I AM aware that Elon actually never reads this forum, but maybe somebody who knows him does, so here it goes:

Dear Elon, now that you guys successfully started delivering the coolest Holllywood - Sunset Blvd. cruiser, could you please build us a version that has:

> a longer wheel base as to house a bigger battery,
> a bigger towing capacity (like 14K lbs, 3/4 ton - 1 ton),
> a straight rail bed for 5er towing,
> Perhaps a front row fold-down middle seat,
> Extendable side mirrors for towing,
> built-in trailer brake,

so that we can actually haul stuff.
Now don't shoot the messenger because I know a lot of you guys out there think the same way. And I can promise that a truck like that would fly off the shelf, more so than the Foundation Series.

Ok, that's my two cents. Peace

I hate to state the obvious, but most of what you want is available in a competing pickup from Detroit coming sooooon.

Tesla needs to get one body structure scaled massively first in order to gauge receptivity and real demand, before tooling and investing in manufacturing systems for other body variants that may or may not sell. It would be expensive and foolish to setup factory lines for different body structures, before knowing how even one variant will sell in volume first.

Once they learn how to streamline costs and increase efficiency for the first variant, then that is a better time to start looking at other possible variants if they indeed see a demand for them.

Also 'Extendable side mirrors for towing' don't need a 'new version' They can be done anytime by Tesla or aftermarket suppliers.

We have already seen thta the FS isn't moving as fast as they hoped, so maybe a different variant might have more success?

It's still very early as FS is only a very few initial VINs and is not representative of the how the CT will scale. It will take one or two years or maybe longer to evaluate how the variant will scale.

Until we get many thousands more pull through DCFS charging stations installed, the market for such a truck is pretty abysmal. and a much better charging curve than whats been seen on the CT.

FSD is independent of any particular model or variant. It's also a totally irrelevant topic to the points introduced in this thread.

Believe he was referring to the foundation series (FS) vs. FSD.

"isn't moving as fast as they hoped" - not sure what metric you measure that by...I think it's supply side / ramp vs. demand

Thanks - don't know how I misread that. Edited the post.

Wheelbase is not the problem for battery size. The battery is the size that it is because that's going to be more than adequate for the majority of the people. That's why they added the Range Extender, for those few willing to pay for it.

You got to start somewhere. Larger trucks don't sell well.

Fold down seat got voted down for some reason a few years ago. It was envisioned initially. In thinking about it, it may have been a safety thing, display in the way of the airbag.

Third party trailer mirrors may fit or if there is the need, someone will fill it.

But before we go toward trailering, we need to get some detail on just how well the truck does with conventional trailers.

Theres a trailer test posted on the front page that shows completely terrible results
