If you can spend that much cash, surely you can sell it when your Cybertruck number comes up?

-Crissa
I dont have $135k cash.

i also refuse to pay the $19k dealer markup, so i can almost guarantee i wont buy the truck if they dont back off of that. ??‍♂

It does t sound like cash is a big deciding factor. If you are looking for bang for your buck you won’t get 2x out of the hummer. I do think the hummer will become much less desirable once the CT is on the street. And it’s a GM EV. Probably won’t have a lot of value in 10 years

Is this a joke? Lol
No.

But a Hummer is for that price.

I like hummers, but I wouldn't pay that much for something that doesn't do much with all that battery pack and gear. Cabin space and bed are also not that great from the looks of it.

If not a CT, I'd get a Lightning, or two. And then spend the rest on holiday? Or maybe a couple MYP? Or 3-4 M3s and give some away? ;)

I rode in the truck.
pretty amazing tbh. I like the looks of the suv way more.
id call their bluff and offer $12k over sticker on it and see what they say if you really want one. Given the rarity it’ll hold value well if you drive it a year or two and want something else
I also question why they have 2 edition 1’s without buyers… my reservation was for the 3x model

In this case buy what you need, not what you want. Im guessing you’re not all about the GM purchase as you’re here asking the internet to talk you out of spending this money. If you do not need to make a purchase, probably walk away.
test drive, then walk away

No, because he’s heard it in person from at least me!

Now, normally I might feel a little self-conscious of standing behind the Lightning in this forum, up to a point

But given that here you’re considering the Hummer BEV, I feel pretty self-confident in standing behind the Lightning

Have had it for 16 months, and it’s been fantastic

and it might be *my* trade-in towards a CT

I have a big hesitation toward any EV besides Tesla… no ones seems to have done them fully right except tesla, i just like the way the hummer looks. Plus its a big ass truck

like my old boss at the motorcycle shop used to say when we got in some hideous bike:

there’s an ass for every seat

The only thing about buying stock is you pay capital gain tax when you sell. I have about 50% of my CT savings in tesla stock, 50% in high yield savings
Sure, but there are ways to put off the tax for as long as possible. It's just that the more layers you involve, the more management and possible avenues of risk that become involved. There are further layers of risk mitigation that can be added but this will again increase the management involved.

The richer you are, the more you can spread out the management and risks to make these methods even more worth while. But if you don't have the right skills and temperament, or have the resources to hire someone trustworthy who does, it can all go haywire so would best be avoided.

Keep in mind that this is NOT tax advice. I don't give tax advice.

I never really enjoyed alcohol, it makes me moody and sullen, so I don't drink it.
Occasionally someone will compliment me on my "restraint" in not indulging.
I don't really get what they mean because it isn't a temptation for me.
Similarly, I don't really understand the temptation here in regards to a Hummer EV.
I never dug the Hummer design, and the electric version seems like a half baked mutant.
Having said all that I would defer to whichever will bring you more joy.
I suspect the Hummer might even end up being more rare than the Cybertruck since so few will be made in comparison.
It might end up being a genuine collector car.
Depends what you want I suppose. Hope this was helpful in some way.

Hmmm.... Given that there were only 16,088 total Hummers in existence as of the end of July and GM is only planning to build a max 30k per year, it won't take long for the CT to outnumber the total Hummers. Then technically yes, the Hummer will be even more rare than the CT. In 2 years, I doubt anyone will consider the CT to be rare in any sense of the word. Given the current UAW strikes, and general fallout from those strikes, there is a strong possibility that GM wont be hitting their 30k target any time soon. Once the CT competition is actually priced and started to be produced in numbers, we'll see if there will be a market for 30k Hummers per year. Or if the Hummer can even be built profitably at all.

I don't think Hummer is currently impacted by the strike. The union picks and chooses which facilities to block or slow, sometimes rotating them.
