fingerprints come off, but then a new bit of streak appears from doing that. lol maybe i just need to put some elbow grease into it, unlike with my model y, i would just use ONR and then spray it with dream maker and it would shine

That is interesting, I don’t have any issues like that.

There seems to be 2 versions, at least on Amazon: 1) CitriSurf 77 Stainless Steel Passivation Cleaner and 2) CitriSurf 77 Plus Stainless Steel Rust Remover and Passivation Cleaner. Does it matter, etc? Differences?
Citrus 77plus states not to use on CT, per their instructions

Well I totally forgot that the more isn’t the be all end all . What I mean is I forgot the spray cleaner. So I just went out and used some spray away and it was night and day difference now

If the streaks and stuff really bother you, you might be the target audience for a clear PPF wrap.

The "fix" for this discoloration is passivation. Citrisurf 77 is what is recommended by Tesla.
Instead of repeating what's been said, here's a great, easy to understand, explanation by RickJ19Zeta8

A follow-up on my post from last year. I did my spring vehicle cleaning yesterday, as is tradition in the northern mid-west to clean all the salt off/out of the truck. Typically the back of the cars in winter collect brake dust / rust spots / embedded grim due to infrequent washes and the truck was no different. I normally use an Iron/ Fallout remover on cars, but used Citrusurf77 plus again on the truck.

But instead of a 15-20 minute soak on each panel, it took 2-3 minutes and a light agitation with a blue non-abrasive sponge. All the fallout / rusted brake dust spots/ grim disappeared almost instantly. And the panels are back to bright stainless.

Unlike the first time I did Citrisurf, this 2nd application didn’t change hue. There was no yellowish /brown patina to remove. And I could almost do partial panels, except it was cleaner. No color change. Which shows why citric acid is the correct solution to use as the concentrated chromium layer is what we all want.

It still strips/ reduces the oxide layer, so it needs to sit clean in air for 24hrs for that to regrow. Otherwise, it was a super quick touch up.
