Have had my CT AWD since March and am loving it, and this is my first EV. Have read and seen reviews about how smooth the ride is with quotes like "even going over potholes I can barely feel it". Don't know if I am expecting too much or if there is something wrong with my suspension because I do feel the potholes and not so rough roads, not horrible but nothing like what others are apparently experiencing. I have a Ford F150 Limited as well and the Ford is smoother and quieter than the CT. I have changed the settings to and from comfort and do not notice much if any difference in the ride.

Welcome your opinions.

Im right there with you lol, back when i had a highland model 3, i heard the same things… ā€œthis suspension is so smooth, it’s Ike a dream to driveā€ and i drive one and could still feel every bump, so when people said the cybertruck is like driving on a cloud, i got my expectations too high cus i can still feel all the bumps as well. maybe all the reviewers or people saying that live where they have nice new streets or something

I took mine to the Service Center for this exact issue. As background, I had a first CT that was smooth-as-glass when driven in comfort mode, and before I sold it to get a CT w/ free Supercharging I put about 15,000 miles on it in all types of terrain. But on pavement it was super smooth driving while in comfort mode.

My 2nd CT shows no discernible difference between comfort and other modes, and the Service Center drove with me and diminished what I was telling them. I know that there is a difference, but my SC refuses to acknowledge it. I’m know that I’m not making it up, and I’m not exaggerating.

It is frustrating. The Service Center adviser lectured me about the need to ā€œair down my tiresā€ to achieve greater comfort on rough roads.

I grew up on the Navajo Indian reservation where there are more dirt roads than paved roads. I know how to drive off-pavement. Airing down tires is less about comfort and more about having an appropriate tire pressure for the best grip on different surfaces. In other words, I’m not going to air down for f@cking pavement, and if I do air down I’m probably not driving faster than 15-20 mph TOPS.

I’m interested in others’ experience with this exact issue.

I would agree that the CT isn’t so smooth that you don’t feel bumps and potholes in the pavement. Now, it is much better than my previous vehicle (2020 Model Y).

Suspension is a trade off, if you want to never feel road imperfections, the vehicle will handle like a boat with zero road feel. On the opposite side of the spectrum, you’ll feel everything but it’ll corner and handle great.

All that said, I could swear my CT was smoother over potholes when I first got it compared to now (7,400 miles later), but I’m almost certain it’s in my head and I just got used to it compared to my previous car.

What’s super interesting is reading CT_AZ_4x4’s experience between his 2 trucks.

Appreciate the feedback.

I do not believe I have foam lined tires. Have no idea how much of a difference foam lined tires would make.

Uh, foam lined tires in the context of suspension?? That doesn't make any sense. The foam lined tires are only to reduce road noise (and is debatable if they actually work).

Edit: removed my incorrect statement about foam not being in the AS tires.

I also see a change in my truck from when I got it. I can feel even small road joints which are an inch or inch and a half higher or lower even at low speeds. Going over speed bumps is very noticable now. I think this might have something to do with better road feel software update. But they could have at least left the comfort mode as it was.

Can't speak to AWD, but chill is smoother than Beast so the suspension setting is doing something on ours.

I don't think the Pirelli AS tires have foam lining bc I saw new ones at my SC earlier this year and they did not have it (I even took a pic because I saw the tread wear sensor in the tire).
Foam… effective? AS Pirelli btw

It is definitely not as smooth as many claim it to be… smoother than my old ModelY… But my Grandaddy’s Cadillac is like floating on clouds..

BabOne,
I got my CT AWD in June and there has to be something wrong with the suspension. It is on Chill mode.
It is great on smooth roads, but there is a lot of rattling that seems to be coming from the wheel areas on bumpy roads. Also on the unpaved road to my house the noise and the ride is REALLY bad. I am only going 5-10 mph. I was driving a GMC truck and a Jeep on the same road and they were both great. I have not notified Tesla yet since there is no service center on Maui...just mobile service.

My beast has rock hard suspension. I feel little bumps way more than in my previous F150.
