This is a great new feature I have been looking forward to. It's a great start and I hope that the next update will allow the door to pop open automatically when you walk up to it like the Model X does.

It would be nice to open the doors on the touch screen for your passengers.

Cool... but virtually useless (outside of helping passengers...I reckon).

OPTION 1:
1. Get phone out.
2. Swipe up.
3. Swipe to Telsa app.
4. Open app.
5. Tap "Controls"
6. Tap open-door-arrow.

OPTION 2:
1. Push the damn button on the door.

Same thing would happen with model X opening trunk with UWB enabled, you need to close it manually.

Long story short, you could disable the auto open door if you don't need it.
The model x trunk closes automatically. If you open the Model S/F frunk, it will pop open(ajar) but it will lock in that position after a bit of time, and prevent it from being opened.
Think of all the extra news stories the CT would get if someone walked by theyā€˜re truck on the way to lunch or something. The door pops open, then someone else comes by and destroys the inside and steels everything inside. We do not need more negative press on this thing.

On the iPhone it’s available as a shortcut, so you can ask Siri or assign it to the action button, and don’t even have to pull your phone out of your pocket, just double tap the button. (Haven’t tested, might need faceid, hopefully)

I have tried every which way on my iPhone 16 promax to assign it as a shortcut so I can use it with my action button with no luck. If you figure out how to make it work then please share. Thanks!

Tested on Y and X and frunk stays open, doesn't lock after a bit of time. (30+mins), so it's the same problem. If CT had driver door auto open, you will get notification, similar to the frunk being unlocked with UWB as you walk by and leaving it left ajar which sends you a notification.

It was introduced a few years back on the 3/Y for weather situations. There were reports of freezing rain freezing the door handles in place, not allowing entry. I believe it’s only avail on the driver door on those vehicles. I have to assume that this is for the same purpose.

I know the window retract motor has been strong enough to break through the ice layer when I’ve tested remote door entry on my 3, but we don’t get a lot of freezing rain here. I’ll test this function with the cybertruck, if we ever happen to get any real winter weather this season, which we haven’t yet.
