There seems to be quality control problem at final check in Austin. Too many complaints on here everyday.
We'll see the complaints of everyone, and so see an observation bias.

First we saw errors that happened one in ten. Then one in a hundred. Now we're seeing errors one in two, five, eight hundred, a thousand...

As someone who has sewn projects, a tiny shift off target or even a slight mis-stretch estimate to a fabric and suddenly it doesn't fit right. It can look perfect and yet, be that tiny amount off at the end.

At least it's not a serious issue, and Tesla will fix it in the end, and we can be sympathetic for the person suffering the issue and help them find the solution if we've heard of it before.

Well said Crissa. I do love the truck, and this really isn't a critical issue. Just trying to look for a solution. Also, it's not unique to Tesla!

It's not "falling apart". It's unclipped. Snap it back on...

It doesn't stay, was there some other clilp holding it on? It scratches my legs, so it's quite annoying.
From someone who has recovered non-Tesla leather seats with new covers, yes, this should be a straightforward fix. One has to apply pressure/stretch the seat cover to fully reinstall the U channel on the bracket. Sometimes you need an assistant.

A rare occurrence could be attributed to an error assembling the seat. If it is common and or happens on more than one model, then it is a design problem. The U channel clip should withstand normal wear without coming detached.

Based on the various comments, it seems like this fastener needs a redesign to help it stay secured.

Clearly this kind of issue can occur in other types of cars as well. I do have to wonder a "personal Q" - are these seat clip failures happening more often with more weight on the seat? i.e. care to share your BMI?;)

I'm 175 lbs. I think it's just the fabric is too loose, and it's held in place with the tightness.

The "U" channel may be too loose, you could try crimping it a bit with some pliers or vice grips to make it hold better.

The U channel is plastic, so I don't think crimping is gonna hold
