Why? It took longer than they hoped to get a repair quote so then they had to take the loss instead of insurance? Pretty easy to follow, right?

Really though… the least important part of this video / article is regarding whatever insurance they were the person that hit them happen to have. Not relevant at all to someone using the review to make a purchasing decision. Yet it’s the core narrative.
Core narrative is always anti Tesla. Just Google “Edmunds Tesla Cybertruck” and look at all past news articles. Pretty easy to see their agenda.

Edmonds sucks. If the CyberTruck hadn't been totaled it would have been just as pathetic as every review it does on any Tesla vehicle. It called the "Model S Plaid" a "waste of money" when every other car review authority sang it's praises for advanced technology that enabled it to surpass almost all HyperCars created to date in performance. That was in 2021.

" Edmunds’ conclusions on the Model S Plaid are certainly in the minority, even among professional reviewers. Doug DeMuro, who has heavily criticized Tesla in the past, dubbed the Model S Plaid as “quite possibly the best all-around car ever made” after experiencing the vehicle. Unlike Edmunds, which had questions about the vehicle’s price, DeMuro noted that the Plaid brings a lot of value and performance considering that it’s a $140,000 car. "

Absent the wreck and totaled CyberTruck, it would have been just as biased and probably much more so than it was when the Model S Plaid was released. There are always some issues, but, as an owner with a year of living with mine, it has been a real change in my mindset about what a vehicle should be and will evolve into.

I enjoyed Edmonds for a long time, back when they were "Insideline.com"

Unfortunately, a lot of car coverage businesses hate Tesla because they don't advertise. You can't blame them, it's their entire source of revenue.

Nah, it's fair to blame them. If receiving money from the manufacturer spins their 'review' of a product then they're not in journalism, they're in marketing.

They can always choose to not talk about something, rather than portraying it negatively or unfairly.
