Well,it was a long wait (7 months) and after many frustrating cancellations got the system installed. Local FPL inspector came out and approved. Hurricane season is far away but glad to have it. With 4k installation credit and 2.5k towards the gateway/charger, I am out of pocket 1,600$. Well worth the price in my opinion.

I've had it installed at my place in Wisconsin since May 2024. It's been awesome. The couple times it's clicked over from power going out we're quick enough that the router didn't even stop.

Our primary heat is off a heat pump so having the truck as backup for a 3am power outage when we're sleeping has been a pleasant surprise to wake up to.

Congrats on finally getting it installed!

Did you have to call Tesla after it was installed to "turn it on?" Did they require proof from utility company that it was installed correctly?

The installer on behalf of Qmerit had a tablet in which he scanned a bar code on the gate way. This downloaded software directly from tesla. Under products-Powershare on my app allowd me to download the operational display of the system. The Installer sent info to Qmerit after the inspection. Did not contact Tesla. If your installer is Tesla certified and thru Qmerit I believe it is good to go.

i got mine installed in december. lost power last week for the first time and it didnt kick over. called tesla and they said they had to update the firmware. called the electrician. he sent me the app the installers have and his password info. so id the update myself. then i had to call tesla back and tell them the firmware update was complete. they said great, now we have to add an update to your truck. but first we need to monitor your "communication" for 3 weeks to a month. then your truck will get an update. and you wont be notified. just keep checking your app. i was like ok.. wtf..

Who at Tesla did you call? Good to know in case someone has an issue down the road.

I googled Tesla power share support and called their 877 number. I selected power wall help (that team handles power share).

So you didn’t have Powerwall and installed the system just using your truck? Man I’m jealous…I’m waiting for the software update. :)

I want the app and PW
It's the Tesla One app. You can download it off the Apple App Store (I assume Android) as well. You can log into the app using your normal Tesla credentials.

I don't know if Tesla will accept the commissioning process from anyone but a certified installer, but you can definitely use the Tesla One app to connect to the devices and update firmware.

You don't even really need the app, if you connect to the WiFi AP on the Gateway or UWC, they have a web interface (which is all the app loads anyway).
