Fire chief to give talk on "Lithium"

Our local fire chief is giving a talk open to the public. The title of the talk is titled lithium. Undoubtedly it will focus on EVs and the difficulty of putting out EV fires and extricating people. I intend to speak up and defend EVs, and Tesla specifically. He has been listening to a YouTuber fire chief StacheD. He told me so in that previous encounter at the post office.. I finally found the YouTuber StacheD and watched some of his videos. I had intended to state the 25 EV fires per 100,000 vs 1,530 ICE put another way thats 61 times less likely less than a gas car. Well, StacheD has blown holes in that statistic, (it's from 2022) and he states further that the real ratio is much more than 25 in 100,000 and he gives reasons. So, I will need to somehow counter that. I intend to thank him for his service and praise him and his department for their courage to do a really tough and dangerous job. I see this as two different worlds we live in. His world is his job of protecting people and property. Our world as consumers is that we want to purchase and use the best products to serve our needs and wants. I intend to state the safety of Teslas as my main concern and I'll give examples of how Tesla saves lives and avoids accidents historically and our own examples.
Here are some other points:
Our lithium battery cell phones don't ignite anymore they used to. Remember cell phones on airplanes. (need to find out what changed)
Chevy Bolt owners were told not to park cars in garages. bad design of battery packs and or their BMS. GM discontinued that system. what was it?
Gasoline is a highly combustible chemical when mixed with air it will and does combust. It happens from fuel leaks etc. personally, I want no part of that system.
There are many, much much more Teslas on the road than in 2022. If Teslas had a catching on fire problem believe me we would know it. The media is far and away anti Tesla.
Some of the news and especially social media reporting is just false. Ie The car container ship, I'll have to research this and get some other examples.
There are far more points to bring up.
Last I may wind up saying, "so that 25 in 100,000 or 61 times less likely statistic, what it would have to be for me to not own a Tesla? Even if it were the same as gas I'd still own a Tesla, why? that 1, 530 in 100,000 is what I lived with for years and years and years.

Boeing rolled out the “Dreamliner” 787 (20 years ago?) to great applause and fanfare only to have it’s lithium batteries spontaneously combust. It was grounded for quite awhile until they figured out how to fix that. Of course now that’s a non-issue.

It's been my experience that people with an opinion are rarely swayed by arguments contrary to that opinion. They just aren't.

The truth is that there are legitimate facts that support both sides of the "Lithium is dangerous" narrative. Neither side wants to hear the whole story.

Doubtful you'll make a dent in what your fire chief pal already believes. Partly because he's already made up his mind. And partly because you don't understand the full story yourself.
