Elon has changed his stance on that. He thinks the government and people shouldn't vilify the oil industry and that Climate Change isn't an immediate threat. There is no "junk science" involved. I'm sorry you don't like the fact that everything you are doing from EV's to solar panels are more efficient, less polluting, and yes, better for the environment. That's right, you're just the same as a "greenie" even if you aren't doing it for those reasons. Maybe you're unaware of the entire reasons for Tesla to exist but it was a direct response to the existential threat of climate change.
You might want to read this piece, written by a "woke" Elon Musk. Here's a quote:
" This is because the overarching purpose of Tesla Motors (and the reason I am funding the company) is to help expedite the move from a mine-and-burn hydrocarbon economy towards a solar electric economy, which I believe to be the primary, but not exclusive, sustainable solution. "

Also Elon:
"“If we wait and delay the change, the best case is simply delaying the inevitable transition from sustainable energy. This is the best case if we don’t take action now,” he said.
“The worst case, however, is more displacement and destruction than all the wars in history combined. These are the best and worst case scenarios. This is why I call it the dumbest experiment in history,” he said."

. "
Here's a direct quote:
“what happens on Earth’s surface ... has no meaningful impact on climate change,” and that “climate change definitely will not end the world as we know it.”
