Just ordered my foundation and it states “35 tire “. But after looking around it seems to say the tire is Actualy 33.5?? Am I missing something? That 1.5” makes a difference to me. I like the extra hight and wheel well filled up. Why not say it comes with a 33” that would be more accurate ?

hmmm.. I found this, and it shows 34.6"

"285/65R20 tires have a diameter of 34.6" (878 mm), a tread width of 11.2" (285 mm), and a wheel diameter of 20" (508 mm)"

The AT are 35". Goodyear says 34.6", but they measure 35".

Most consumer facing products are marketed at "nominal" measurements. That applies to nearly 100% of products too lol

Well that would make me happier, I keep coming across this one that says 33.5. I know for the average joe that doesn’t care about that it isn’t a big deal but I’ve always had trucks with 35” and leveled or lifted and just think it looks so much tuffer so to speak with large tires and lifted up a little bit so I will take the extra inch . ? I’ve already been checking our ways to drive in high mode lol.

Ignore the erroneous data point
285×0.65÷25.4×2+20 = 34.6

Maybe it's like when you buy lumber... You know, like when you buy a 2X4 it's ACTUALLY 1.5" X 3.5"...

There is a difference between a roundoff error and a machined size. 2x4s are machined to their size. THEN there would be roundoff error. The tire size is the manufacturer saying to the public what the size is when roundoff error could be larger or smaller.

A tire size by itself does not include mounting stretch and tire pressure changes.

A mounted tire on a rim does not include vehicle weight load.

So "overall size" is everything put together.
