This is a question for all of the California based Cybertruck owners. I know that it’s a state law that we’re supposed to have a license plate on the front of our cybertrucks. But of course it doesn’t look as good. Are you all putting a license plate on the front of the vehicle or going without it and waiting till a cop potentially tells you to put a license plate on the front?
I elected to go without the front plate. I will deal with it when I get pulled over. I didn’t have it on my other car since that was kinda fancy too and it looked better without the plate. I am going on 5 years now.

I’m in California and we’ve owned every model Tesla makes since 2018. The only one that had a front plate was the MS we bought used in 2019. After a drive through car wash bent it, it came off. I was stopped a few times going to work but the lack of a front plate was never an issue.

I got a fix-it ticket from a cop in my CT for window tint who, in my opinion, just wanted to be an a-hole. He pulled me over for crossing a double yellow line to get into a turning lane. My CT is wrapped a gloss black with black tint with no front plate. I was turning West, while he was the first in line heading South. Clear view of the front of my truck. Even accused me of having the front tinted, which of course I do not. It’s just the angle. I do have a non tinted film on the front for heat reduction though.

At this particular light near my house, the turn lane is so short that the first three cars continuing straight block it. Anyone behind them would have to wait and miss the green or cross the double yellow. It’s done all day every day and is only possible with no oncoming traffic.

He said he pulled me over for crossing the double yellow line but would let that go and gave me a fix-it ticket for the tint. It’s bullcrap because all you get is attention in these trucks and I’ve seen and been seen by cops nearly every day. He had a clear view of my truck not having a front plate and used the double yellow line as a reason to pull me over for the tint.

I have been going without since I got mine 5 months ago…. not sure they are even enforcing this law still.

Never put front plates on my cars - live in San Diego- never an issue - some states have a rule that three times and after that they can impound your car.

I’m not a scoff-law. All my Teslas have a front license plate. I see a lot of Teslas without a front license plate. I also see a lot of vehicles with tinted front driver side and front passenger side windows. I was pulled over on HWY 101 around King City by a Highway Patrolman who gave me a fixit ticket because the 2003 Prius I bought had tinted front driver side and front passenger side windows. I had to scrap off the tinting with a razor blade and get an officer to sign-off the citation.
My Foundation Series CyberTruck came with tinted rear driver side and rear passenger side windows. However, the front driver side and front passenger windows are not tinted.

I installed it for two reasons. 1) I have fast pass for getting through the Mexico USA border. If you don’t have a front plate you get a strike and three strikes you lose your fast pass. 2) I have a custom license plate in Vietnamese so I put the accent marks on the front one only.

I live in CA and have driven multiple vehicles without front plates for at least 4 decades without ever being pulled over or ticketed for not having a front plate. Speeding though....radar detector has saved me thousands.

the risk of getting a ticket plus the small price compared to how ugly they make my expensive vehicle look, makes it worth it to me.
This is called 'privilege'.

Just put the plate on. And they can pull you over in a front-plate state if they want to. Your state's laws are respected only after that.
