This is a question for all of the California based Cybertruck owners. I know that it’s a state law that we’re supposed to have a license plate on the front of our cybertrucks. But of course it doesn’t look as good. Are you all putting a license plate on the front of the vehicle or going without it and waiting till a cop potentially tells you to put a license plate on the front?

We are getting a little of attention so i got a snapplate and installed it. Don’t want to give cops an excuse to pull me over.

We initially didn't want to put the front plate on (didn't for my Chev SSR, didn't want to ruin the bumper), but given the gov climate these days in CA, we didn't want any excuse for a ticket or a stop. Before buying the Snap Plate, we thought we'd try the stock included plate first to see how it looked - it went on very easy and actually looks fine and doesn't block the camera. Saved $130...

Oh, for our other Tesla, MY, I had resisted a front plate because didn't want to drill holes into the bumper. CA has a DMV-approved license plate decal program and it works great. We put this on our MY and it's perfect. They are called LicensePlateWrap.com Website: https://licenseplatewrap.com/

We initially were going to try the license plate wrap on the CT, but didn't want to stick it on the frunk and there really isn't a good smooth spot on the bumper below.

Do you want to give the police a reason to pull you over ? That’s enough to do it. Yes it happened to me. He admitted they were looking for drunk drivers and was kind enough to let me go. But it gave him the authority / excuse to pull me over.

On a SoCal note, with Sentri you’ll lose your Sentri coming back from Mexico if it’s not on.

My 2c - looks fine. Put it on and never thought twice about it.

They are not going to stop you for the front plate. It’s just a fix it ticket, no money for the courts. Same with a window tint. But if you are stopped for any moving violation they will start tacking all these little things on.

I’m in TX (also a 2 plate state) and I’m going without for as long as I can. I know it gives cops a reason to stop me, but I give them plenty of reasons on my own so I don’t really care.

Not all states require front plates, so for them to pull you over, they need to see both the missing front plate. And the Required rear plate(you could be out of state). So it’s less likely to be pulled over for that alone. I’ve also got custom plates, and have them stolen before, and use that as excuse, not to put them on. Also here in Colorado its only $70 fixit ticket, the risk of getting a ticket plus the small price compared to how ugly they make my expensive vehicle look, makes it worth it to me.

Missouri has a similar law requiring a front license plate. The vast majority of vehicles including Teslas, do not have one. The fine is a non moving violation and is cheap.
Police have enough to stop people, to do so for the absence of a front plate.
We have four Teslas in our family including a CyberBeast and none will have front plates.

I had the front plate from day one (with the temp tags) using the Tesla bracket.

I think cars look better with a front plate, particularly the CT.
