I got the email and selected the nearby Costa Mesa SC for doing the work. I also added a few things like the leaking tonneau (right front like most everyone else), a rear passenger seat belt that never wanted to retract unless you guided it, and foggy windshield cameras that would occasionally kick me out of FSD if heading into the setting sun. The estimate was free for everything but the camera deep clean was something like $125.

The app also said it would be done in a single day (Friday) and no loaner would be available.

I texted a snarky “Really, no loaner?” listing all the Tesla products I had purchased and got a quick “oh that’s just the app, we will have a loaner for you.”

On drop off the manager was pretty dismissive of the tonneau leak “they are not supposed to be waterproof but we’ll take a look at it.”

It ended up being a Model X and yes its FSD is better than the Beast’s although I use the Beast’s for almost 100% of my driving and am quite happy with it and know when to intervene.

I got a message the car would not be ready until Monday which was fine but I couldn’t get there until after hours. I asked what I needed to know about finishing the lightbar install and was emailed excepts from the service manual that showed taking off the rooftop appliqué and soldering in the harness. I was told to follow it exactly.

I picked it up after hours (absolutely painless). It was charged to 80% (my daily charge limit) and all the work looked great with the exception of a lot of hand prints on the new rails and the doors. The lightbar looked great and they had installed the extra slat on the tonneau. I had dropped off the truck with 38% battery and they gave it to me with 80%. There was no harness to solder so I texted them but wasn’t getting a clear response back and basically concluded they had done the harness install so it must just be the B-pillar connection that needed done. There are several YouTube videos on how to do that and all show the first step as yanking the weather stripping off both doors. That didn't make sense to me as the pillar panel had its own flush weather stripping that was not under the door weatherstripping. Sure enough, it worked fine without that step.

No MV battery disconnect or anything needed. Just recycle the roof outlet power and everything booted up fine. It took 5 minutes max.

I got a text asking about the service and I mentioned all the hand prints and they offered to reimburse me for a car wash but I declined because I felt they had done enough with not charging me for the camera cleaning or anything.

Just got the light bar as well. I wondered about the need to pull the seals. Thanks for the insight. I'll bypass pulling them when I hook up the power based on your comments. Thanks.
