My truck was getting work done for the last week and a half and I just got it back today. As soon as I got home, the FSD update was available. I excitedly started the update process while preparing to wash a week and a half’s worth of dust and dirt from both outside and inside from the Tesla repair techs.

Finally was able to try it out taking a trip to the local supercharger. The truck, for whatever reason, literally drove on the left lane line of whatever road I was on. One road had the double yellow lines with road reflectors and it drove right on top of those until I stopped it. Needless to say I was disappointed. I drove on a road with a curbed median and I had to intervene when it again wanted to immediately move to the left side of the lane. I didn’t want to give it a chance to curb rash my tires. I made the verbal report after each incident so hopefully Tesla can tweak it if it’s something that many folks are experiencing.

The FSD in the loaner MX I was driving while it was getting fixed was pretty much perfect. I usually stopped it but generally because I wanted to go faster, not because it did anything wrong. It was a 2020 model but the FSD worked well.

Tesla has been doing lane keeping forever so it’s weird that the truck would deliberately move to the left side of the lane as soon as FSD was engaged. Hopefully it’ll be fixed in a future update. I’ll still try it every now and again but definitely without any cars or curbs nearby.
Something doesn’t sound right about this and its almost as though its more related to your truck just being in service and camera calibration than actual FSD operation.
Not sure what you can do about it other than contact back the service center you just picked it up from and inquire what you can possibly do or adjust, even if its something in the service menu like recalibrating cameras.

Your cameras need recalibrated.

Alot of folks reporting truck drives on the left or right lines. Could this be from poor build quality in terms of how precisely the cameras are installed on each side? Wonder if it affects the nav a bit

Alameda CA truck #3202 first 5 minute drive. 1 driver intervention. vehicle pulled into bus stop instead of stopping and making turn at the corner. Route was in uncrowded residential street with excellent markings.

My FSD started with rainbow mode on. No idea how to turn it off. Don’t see any settings in toybox.
you own another Tesla? Mine is on in another car, I think it follows your profile ??ā€ā™‚?

A few drives in urban settings. Ran a few red lights , didn’t see a car backing out, doesn’t stop for pedestrians walking in non-intersection cross walks (mid block) went straight in a turn only. Tried auto park, couldn’t read the curb right, went in and out of the spot about 10 times before I took over. the rest of the drives were fine, does get very close to traffic a few flinches for near misses on banging mirrors with on coming traffic. It’s pretty cool but you must stay alert.

Self drove to work for the first time yesterday. No major problems. It's not totally smooth but I expect it will correct like the cars did. Had a bit of a scare as it lurched a bit toward an oncoming motorcycle, just a hair but enough to scare me. It goes lower than the speed limit which is irritating to those behind me. I wonder if the hands free bit constitutes a moving violation? Can you be pulled over if your vehicle is operating legally but your hands are not on the wheel?

Cybertruck is my first Tesla, today is the first time I’ve used FSD. Does anyone else feel like it’s not going to stop in time and rearend the car in front of you? Also seems like it taking turn to sharp and hit the curb.
Is this happening to anyone else or Is it me not trusting the system?
the curb thing is 100% real at this version! Make sure you manually disengage when it does this and click the feedback box that pops up.

Got the update over night and took 2 short drives today.

Drive 1 to a school a mile away. Didn’t recognize the school zone speed limit. Interaction 1. A smaller than normal stop sign at the school, no line on the road. Super hard brake. Didn’t use it home, lack of trust.

Drive 2 was about 5 miles round trip. Drove way too close to the right the whole way, I swear it was inches from mailboxes. All left turns it made cut the corner of the opposite lane. Went to cross a 4 lane road with a shared center turn lane, needed to go straight, only 1 coming from the right, very visible. Without interaction 2, would have been a t-bone. Took a railroad crossing at offset+7 speed limit.

I have no need for in town FSD, I just hope highways are anything close to the EAP I had in my 2018 S. Will be a bit before I make it to a highway for a long drive. FSD IMO is cool, but no way would I use in a city.
My first experience with FSD, was similar, I don't trust it. For mine, it hugs to the left side of the lane, not touching the stripes, but just too close for me. As others have said, maybe a camera calibrate is necessary. Secondly, it scared me when a car was turning left and my CT came dangerously close to hitting him, I had to brake. I'm not sure how to report these incidents.

Since I live in Michigan, U-turns are a big part of driving. When I drove to work, it has to make a U-turn, then in 500 ft make its way to the right hand turn in, to my work. It made the U-turn fine, but my CT hugged the left side of the road ~ near the median. There was another car that was following me closely, so my CT would of had to cut right in front of him in order to get in the right hand lane where my work was. So, I had to intervene early.

Another thing Michigan has is: "Passing on the right side" of cars turning left on 2 lane roads. Michigan makes an extra lane to the right so you can drive around the left turning cars. My CT did not take advantage of this, it just lined up behind the several cars turning left. Which adds time to your drive. In other states, passing on the right is illegal. So, I'm not sure if CT FSD will ever be able to negotiate this or not. This only happened once, so maybe it was just a quirk. I will try it again and see if the next time it works better.

I do like FSD on the highway, (except for the hugging to the left as mentioned above).

The best part of all of this, is that Tesla's FSD will get better with new updates, until then, supervise it well!

Yeah, indeed it turns left so close to barriers and islands and crosses solid yellow and white lines. On freeways it's too close to the railings and I even for few seconds run into rumble stips on thr left. A no no when I'm driving.

Also that it cuts into several lanes in exiting the freeways instead of staying in the exit lanes way ahead in preparation.

These are common observation even here and if Tesla is listening, should immediately correct it.

If seems to be an accident waiting to happen, of not already.

are there any settings (like sentry mode, live cameras) I should have enabled that will help me get this FSD update? I’m not an early reserver. 1st Tesla. Ordered the CT 3 weeks ago and got it last week.
