If someone passed me on the right, that signals to me that they think I should be in the right lane, and shouldn't be dawdling in the middle. Whether true or not, that's my usual thought, so then I move over.
If someone passes me on the right when the left lane is open, I think "sheez, what a dick"

As an endurance cyclist who has done over 20 Houston-to-Austin MS150's and as a League of American Cyclists cycling safety instructor, the whole "slower traffic keep right" thing is ingrained in my DNA. On a long, fast ride, it can be downright dangerous to pass on the right and is frowned upon even though almost always the fault slower riders not keeping right.

On the freeway and with a vehicle that a mere tilt of my ankle can have me at a full stop or at full speed in no time, I'm less concerned about it, but still get frustrated when someone stays in the proverbial--and oft-marked--"passing lane" when a clearly faster driver approaches

That said, if we're going over a hill or around a bend that might have TX State Trooper waiting to cite me, I'll use the right lane rather than an open left lane when safe to do so. There is no legal, practical or ethical reason not to do so. Not a d*ck move in my book, but to each their own penile triggers. 🤪
