Not sure it'd be 'no pinch' but that is a pretty neat idea. Not sure where you'd stuff the extra metal when stowed, tho.

It was a simple combination window motor+pawl engagement gravity locking in up position a single hollow spar shape stabilized by in guides. It appeared to the naked-eye depth exists sufficient in both sail planes and endgate for ‘something’.
Tailgate was special-case constructed as ”H” assembly whose two lower legs hinged inward driven by a single electric/hydraulic horizontal mount ramming into the secure up “H”. Then when unlocked with a permanent top-plate serving dual use as top-of-tailgate when in lowered case. When lowered hermetically seals into the tailgate in the collapsed form of a “U” closed across its top by that permanent fixed top plate.
