People seem to think the wait time for a VIN is linear (it took you 6 months from configuring to VIN therefor I should expect the same). But it isn’t linear. The reservation rate was exponential for the first few weeks. Those that waited a few days to reserve sentenced themselves to many months of longer wait times. The production rate has also been exponential but at a slower rate and with plateaus. Now the production rate appears to greatly exceed the conversion rate of those that chose to follow through with their foundation series order and Tesla seems to be working their way down the list. But it seems that those that configured in 2024 and suddenly get a VIN are often just in the right place at the right time to accept a truck that was configured by somebody else in 2023. When I configured it said to expect October - December and that’s what I expect will happen unless somebody else who ordered a tactical grey beast in south Florida suddenly can’t pull the trigger. In that case I’ll be ready
