In my opinion, the reason F-150 Lightning sales are far less than Ford expected is that it competes directly with the F-150 gas and diesel versions. Having electric drive and a large front trunk isn't enough to convince a lot of F-150 gas or diesel truck owners to switch to electric. And, it seems, that the Lightning has little appeal outside the traditional pickup market.

Tesla understood this challenge when it designed the Cybertruck. It attracts buyers outside the traditional pickup market, while, at the same time, including advanced and innovative features that divert attention from the range and towing limitations that detractors claim disqualify it as a "real" work truck.

The Cybertruck is in a class by itself. If enough people find that it fits the bill as a multi-purpose vehicle, it should continue to sell well.
For me - the average decent size home owner who is in the constant game of Fertilizer, picking up nick-nacks (furniture etc) for my queen, re-doing my basement and needing to pickup drywall and large lumber - it's a VERY pragmatic and realistic truck. I think I've put more miles on it going to Home Depot (and Lowes and Costco) than just "fun stuff".
I can't express how much of a joy it is - and my biggest learning is "how to secure stuff in the bed" when moving things like wall sized mirrors and 16-foot crown molding...

NONE of this was possible with any of my other vehicles.

Plus my 20+ year old son truly gets a ton of joy out of it... which makes me even happier.

Most people do love it. The owners of the Cybertruck in question are in their 70s.

The crazy is everywhere, no just Wyoming.
The ONLY haters I've encountered are noobs that have NEVER driven a tesla or have extreme numbers of leftist bumper stickers (Elon haters)

It'll probably last longer than all those trucks combined too lol
With the exception of 2 of those, they were all great trucks that I took care of and they surely would have lasted me a lifetime... But, I get bored...
