Well, preferably, you slow down before you approach the area with the pedestrian instead of after your truck's nose has intersected their path.

This whole discussion of who had "the right-of-way" is silly.

I was always taught that, as a pedestrian, cars had the right-of-way (regardless of what the law says) and, as a motorist, pedestrians had the right-of-way (regardless of what the law says).

Given the timing and footage useable in court, the drivers move was premeditated and a felony had the pedestrian been hit. Compare that to the pedestrians violation of illegal crossing. Either way, driver loses and pedestrian gets million$ in damages. Was it worth it?
