Had to pass up on my Tactical Grey VIN

The good news is that Tesla is ramping up the Tactical Grey production. I was assigned a VIN today, which is three months ahead of what I was told. The bad news is that I had to pass on it because I'm currently in the opposite side of the country and would have had only a few days to travel thousands of miles back to pick it up. Hopefully, I'll get another VIN in early September when I'm back and ready to go.

From what I understand you can place your order on hold for up to 6-months.

Does this mean you can get a new vin in 6 months or you’re assigned that vehicle and it sits for 6 months? How exactly does it work?

They actually give you the choice of a one month or six month hold. You pass on the VIN that they originally assign to you and the vehicle goes to the next person in line. When you remove the hold anytime up to the six months, you immediate get the next vehicle available in line. They will not hold your VIN.

Same thing happened to me they put on hold for 2 weeks then I guess I’m back in line ordered the beast with tactical grey

I’m picking up mine today!!! Ordered October 2024! ? I got VIN assigned 3 days ago and everything was so quick that I was not ready for it! But that’s ok I’m moving forward

Yes. I booked a flight, but I also must drive from Las Vegas to Pleasant Grove, Utah in the span of a few days. That's a lot of money spent to rush across the country at the last minute when Tesla could not even commit to holding the truck for a few days. It was smarter to place the delivery on hold, book my flight and rental car for a reasonable price, fly out in a couple of weeks, then receive the next VIN in early September as Tesla actually advised me to do.

A couple of weeks notice from Tesla about upcoming delivery would be great, especially since we were told the wait would be months longer, and many of us travel for work and business. Hopefully, we'll be back on track when releasing the hold. I was assured by Tesla that I'd probably get a VIN within several days after releasing the delivery hold at the end of this month. Hopefully, it will be the same for you!
