apparently heat treating stainless depends on the color you wantI don't think the color treatment would reduce the strength of the steel in any meaningful matter. You'd have to do more than change the oxidization on the surface for that.
...And I was thinking about remarking on the title but I'll leave that to others.

while temp changes that affect the properties start at around 930 degrees.. SO yes you could probably heat treat the parts as long as you weren't going for a dark blue.. or probably ANY blue and not hurt THAT part...
However steel conducts heat REALLY well so anything attached to the steel would be affected.. IOW take the panels OFF the truck and go for the yellow/reds.. NOT blue's.
