Early on replacement packs were actually new. I received a new pack replacement from the early on cell dent issue. Was told I could bring it in whenever I wanted for replacement. I postponed putting it in for about 10k and got put in at 40k in miles. Range went right back to the top like new.
I did the whole. There's no problem with my battery type of thing danger wise. Tesla said no it wasn't customer facing and didn't give me a reduced charge to not worry about it and bring it in whenever I wanted to get it replaced. Engineering wanted it.
If you do get to actually watch a little bit of the process be done, it's pretty interesting to see how the pack is swapped. I'm sure there's one on the internet but my service location told me when they were going to do it and I stopped over to watch a couple of steps of the process.
Look in the code for item should have RMN or R in it somewhere if it is a reman.
