Also unheard of to not get a flat, especially on the AL-CAN. Chipped windshield?

Testing the Last Frontier: Amazing

To lift the phrase from the old Apple commerical:

"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes."

I got lucky—didn’t even get a flat and chip on the windshield!

Could you please explain the mounting setup here? And your rack in general as pictured? Looks super cool.
I use @Mars Adventure Gear rack and tire mount kit. Did a little bit modification.

That’s an awesome story! Congrats on a great trip. Your CT is probably the only one that crossed the attic circle.

I am thinking of a trip to Nova Scotia from the Boston area. If anyone is interested, let me know.
Cheers

I'd be interested but if I can't, it'd be good to try to get a Boston / New England area Cybertruck meetup!

Here’s an alternative way to mount the spare tire that keeps the bed accessible and uses less space?

I know this is an old thread, but I did it in 2024 all the way to The Arctic Ocean

Unheard of to *NOT* get a flat on the AL-CAN? Where did you get that idea? Most people who go to the Arctic Circle and back don't experience a flat.

@TesLatino went all the way to the Arctic Ocean with two Cybertrucks and didn't report getting a flat. That right there tells you it's not unheard of. People who get a flat have often made bad choices, used inappropriate tires for their loads, ran the wrong pressures or were poor drivers who didn't look where they were going (driving long hours can lull some drivers into complacency). If you use what I consider a normal amount of care (including using appropriate tires and pressures), you are far less likely to get a flat, than to not get a flat, on a round trip to the Arctic Circle.

Nice! Do you have a trip total Wh/mile number? I'm just wondering how much it was impacted by the wheels/tires/lack of tire fairings and accessories above the tonneau.

Agreed. The Alaska Highway (aka AL-CAN) is a nicely paved, reasonably maintained highway. I would take as spare traveling to the Arctic on the Dempster Highway, north of Dawson City, however.

I didn't discuss whether to carry a spare or not. I was simply pointing out that the statement that it was unheard of to make the trip without getting a flat, is clearly false. I have no idea where that idea came from.

I just pulled the basic stats of the drive from Dawson City to Tuk, which is what we considered the actual meaningful part, although it took lots of miles of Canadian EV charging struggle between Prince George, BC and Dawson City.

I pulled the stats from my Tezlab roadtrips archive using a Grok MCP integration.

Sure, that would be great. It sounds like you kept speeds low to make the difficult stretches work. At lower speeds the higher aero drag of the accessories/wheels/tires would be less of an issue. What air pressure did you run on the portions with coarser gravel? About 50 psi cold?

I remember following along when you originally posted the trip updates and was glad someone was out there making it happen. Good job!

I’ve ridden a motorcycle to Deadhorse twice with a few other motorcyclists. I am in several Alaskan riding groups. I have had flats in some remote spots like Patagonia and Mongolia, but never Alaska, because the gravel/dirt haul roads there are very well maintained, with daily grading and watering where needed. I’ve have never heard of or seen a flat on those roads except the one time I stopped to help two hapless bicyclists with a flat who were being eaten by mosquitos. I stupidly gave them my only can of Deep-Woods Off deet out of sympathy, only to later have a 6-hour construction delay when I was eaten alive.
