You Actualy think someone who was to QC the car purposely ignored it to sell another unit?
This is an open secret about Tesla production.
A long, long time ago I worked for a PC manufacturer (starts with "D" and rhymes with "hell") in software, but I could always pick up extra shifts in the factory at the end-of-quarter push.

One such quarter, they had me tearing-down desktops that failed the burn-in test. I quickly discovered the reason for the failures: the hard drives were mounted to a flat metal plate, and when installed with the circuit board facing down, there was a paper-thin clearance between the plate and the soldier joints. A little vibration was enough to sometimes short out the drive. The fix was to simply mount the drives inverted.

I showed this to the floor manager, who quickly relayed this to the line workers, and had me rework all the failed machines. But when I pointed to the mountain of boxed systems ready for shipment, he just shrugged and said "if any of those fail, they'll send them back."

Unless you're building parts for the space program, there's always an acceptable margin for failure rate. ?‍♂

That's my sentiment as well. I have two big problems right now with Tesla.

1. We know from quality surveys that North American Tesla production and QC is poor compared to other automakers, but it is especially bad compared to the German and Chinese plants. Those factories, building the same cars, with pretty much the same components have much higher QC and much higher customer satisfaction.

2. Tesla has no real competition and has a big lead in battery tech, range, and self driving. So there aren't the normal competitive forces that would push them towards improvement.

All three of my Teslas required near immediate servicing upon taking delivery over a period stretching back 7+ years.

In order to take advantage of soon to be gone tax credits my wife is going to get an electric, she chose to get a MINI even though a Model Y would have been a far better value for how much money she is spending. She's seen too much of the Tesla drama firsthand to get a Tesla.
If this is your third Tesla, then you evidently have already made the decision that the plusses outweigh the negatives. So just sit back, remember this and let Tesla have some time to fix the problem.

Had a jeep blow its transmission on its way home. Dealer towed it back. Spent months in their shop, they still wanted me to take it bad. Had to fight and threaten to lemon law it. It sucks, but new vehicles fail too, sometimes.

The Cybertruck is the 20th car I've purchased and the 17th brand new vehicle I've purchased.

None of my vehicles have had to immediately go into service for a week after buying them.

Just curious, why so many vehicles? In my 40 years of driving, I've owned 6 cars (two of which I still have), and the Cybertruck is only my 2nd new vehicle purchase.

Had a brand new 2001 Chevy Tahoe tranny fail with like 26k miles on it. Ended up making me pay for half of a new one. Still went and bought a new one in 2010 then bought a a duramax in 2015. Not one issue with those. I love me a Chevy truck! As you said new cars fail sometimes it’s luck of the draw

Most people turn in vehicles well before they hit 6 years old. Commonly 3-5 years, before repairs become commonplace.

Did Tesla SC provide you with a loaner vehicle? I sure did (has they did when my CT required repairs) though not a CT, not with a ride.
No loaner was available when I dropped the CT off, they told me to wait around and maybe someone would return a loaner I could take but another customer was ahead of me.... so after waiting a couple of hours I left because I had work I needed to do and the Tesla lounge wasn't conducive to conducting business.

The service advisor made no effort to connect me with a loaner even as the repair

Well, I bought my first used car as a 16 year old burger flipper and I’m now substantially older than I’ve also bought all of my wife’s vehicles as well as extra family vehicles.

I thought the same but sitting here counting I was surprised at my self I’m 50 from 16 I’ve owned
11 cars/trucks (4 of them new) (2 of them classics)
8 motorcycles
If we include dirt another 6 ?

1987 - bought a POS beater for $500 (Datsun! totaled in 1988 hahaha)
1988 - got hand-me-down family POS beater (Honda)
1992 - first new car! Miata
1998 - DeLorean (used, obviously, from eBay)
2017 - traded POS beater Miata for 3-year SUV lease
2024 - Cybertruck

I refuse to ride a donorcycle until I have a death wish

I dunno if it's "most" people, but certainly those with the means will trade up before the warranty expires.

sad to hear that even one person has had issues, but the declining sales speak for themselves… maybe 2025 will be the break out year. Or maybe Tesla will keep ct a “limited production” vehicle. Its already made its money back on the ct development.
