I think you might have cracked the code on why everything seems so random. Perhaps many of us had early trucks but they got caught in a bad batch waiting to get fixed before releasing VIN. This is very common in other manufacturing start ups. Sometimes it takes far longer to "fix" a product than to just make one from scratch. We had dedicated cells with experts just to "repair" bad product and their output was significantly slower than a normal MFG line.

Hell yeah, congrats! Send us pictures once you get it! Now I'm double jealous of you for getting a vin and being a stay at home dad! I was from 2020-2022 but once my wife completed her post doc we moved back home where I was fortunate enough to get a position at my old employer while she was on the job hunt. Now we both work and actually sit about 30' apart from each other.... Nice on the wallet but man I miss getting to spend that much time with my little ones, the relative freedom, and getting to sleep in till 9:30-10am lmfao.
How did you get a message chain going? I can’t figure out how to even send them a message in the appWell, low and behold my message ro Tesla regarding my VIN vs order date has been answered. Not what I wanted to hear, but, at least my anxiety was acknowledged. Thank you Tesla for responding ?

did you get an email or text letting you know a VIN was assigned or did you just check your app for the 1000th time that day?
No email or notification yet - just my usually hourly app check, haha!
When you open the Tesla app at the top right is a message "icon" that you tap on to begin a conversation. However, this is the 1st time that Tesla has responded to a question from me. Normally the message is from Tesla telling you to do something.
