You have to pay and pickup the truck before you've "paid for the hardware and installation"Yup, there are a few here. Just feels weird to have to use that option since we paid for the hardware and installation as part of the Beast.
I forwarded him this thread, he knows what all those words are and will get things setup at home tomorrow. Thanks!Tell him to buy the necessary material, conduits, THHN 4 wire, 60A breaker, and get started on it. Once you get the voucher order yourself the UWC asap and use the standard charger for the time being as well as superchargers or any chargers in your area until your UWC arrives. The installation is extremely easy he’ll know what to do.
If your husband is an election you should be able to install the charger or a 220 outlet no problem. I’m not, and installed it my self running the conduit from my electrical box, about 50’, the day I got my first Tesla. Installed a 220 outlet with a 60amp breaker for my wife’s Tesla when she got it and wired in a plug to the charger, so the charger thinks it is hardwired to a 60 amp breaker, but I can use that outlet for something else if I need to. The 50’ of copper wire will cost you more than the charger(if you had to pay for it)We ordered the day of the unveil and configured on 3/9. We've had some good communication with the local SC and they told us a couple weeks ago because we were waiting for a Beast with the grey interior we wouldn't be getting a VIN till later this year. In the app it said Oct-Dec delivery last week.
Then this morning I got a text saying please complete the order, our truck will be at the SC on 7/30 and to pick a delivery times on 8/3.
It's just a little jarring since we don't have anything here to charge beyond the 110 outlet.
Awesome! Hope you get your truck soon!I forwarded him this thread, he knows what all those words are and will get things setup at home tomorrow. Thanks!
Well, yeah. You have to pay and pickup the truck before you've "paid for the hardware and installation"
I agree but the process of getting everything in place is gonna take longer than you have between charges. Having your husband install a 220 outlet to use until the rest is completed would be best and would also give you guys another charging option for a second EV.Yup, there are a few here. Just feels weird to have to use that option since we paid for the hardware and installation as part of the Beast.
I 100% agree!!I just wanted to chime in and say that it's really not as hard to get a Tesla charged up as you may think. I would bet that in 6 months you'll look back at this and realize that it was really a nothing-burger to worry about.
The initial panic has worn off. We figured out payment and are going through the process of insurance. We have a few rental properties and have been with the same place for 3 years so it was time to shop around anyway.I took delivery 2 weeks ago. I've been using the mobile charger while I wait for the 240v install. It's slow but you'll get by. I panicked a bit too but no need. Take delivery and enjoy the truck while you use a trickle charge for a while.
