I put this in my wiper fluid tank for windshield washer fluid, and have a residue that makes the windshield unusable in the morning with dew when facing the sun or with light rain when the wiper isn’t going crazy.

1. how do I get this the F@$* off my windscreen.

2. what is a better product to use for washer fluid resvoiur?

thanks!

How do you get it out of your res ? Keep pressing the button till it’s empty or siphon it out . Wax your windshield if you have to.

Ceramic coat your windshield, windows, mirror, camera lenses, and screen. You'll wonder why others never told you the wonders of it lol.

I think I have put 1.5 gal of washer fluid in my Model 3 in 5 years.

Excellent resource to learn:

Quick Google search shows isopropyl alcohol removes rain-X type products from windshields. There’s many videos on YouTube. Before you clean the windshield… clean out the reservoir tank. Pump it out using a cheap $10 pump from Amazon and then fill with water, then pump it out again. Do this several times to dilute any residual in the tank. Now clean out the tubing and nozzles by operating the windshield washer of the truck - I’d say 2-3 tank fulls of just water. Hopefully this dilutes and gets rid of the concentrated Rain-X. Good luck!

RainX applied to the windshield improves visibility and wiper performance, but their washer fluid is crap.

The best cleaner for removing RainX is their own "X-treme Clean" glass cleaner.

Learned about it on this forum (too lazy to look it up and give proper attribution). Bought it, love it. Smells great, crystal clear, works very well. Not cheap, only available from them direct.

Might have been me. That’s my go to after using Nexzett CrystalKlar for years. And for a winter freeze protection blend, it’s cheaper than Nexzett.

Isopropyl or ethanol will remove RainX. But the trick is you need -much- more than you think, as it will float it off the surface but as soon as the isopropyl flashes off, it will re-deposit. Lots of fresh paper towel, lots of isopropyl.

I used a siphon to empty most of the tank, and then the front camera sprayer to empty the rest. Don’t give yourself methanol poisoning if you suck on the siphon to start it. Clear tubing is always your friend with a siphon hose.

Don't have my CT yet and have used RainX for decades on every vehicle I have owned with no problems at all. What's the issue with it on CT windshields ?

The issue is not rainX, the issue is rainX washer fluid the orange (I also think there’s a formulation that’s green) product that you put in your window sprayer reservoir, that sucks and leaves a gross film. That’s what OP is talking about.

That's what I was referring to also. The orange windshield washer fluid is currently in my 2018 M3LR since new. Years ago we had an issue at work with a drum labeled as WSW fluid which turned out to be engine antifreeze. Maintainence had a dickens of a time getting it off the windshield and out of the tank and lines. Wipers smeared it, looked like glycerin. (Product was not RainX.) I wonder if its a batch of mislabeled product.

Gotcha. With that said, my personal experience with the orange stuff is that it’s not great. I personally experienced the weird film.

I just (2 weeks ago) siphoned it all out of my ‘vette and Plaid as well as all of the “blue piss” as I believe @RickJ19Zeta8 put it, out of my CB and my wife’s new X and replaced them all with Adams.
