When you activate it you will be charged the first month of $50 but you can then pause the service for following months until you need it.
Can you clarify if I activate the $50 plan, use it for 10 days then pause. Unpause 3 months later and I will still have 20 days left until the next ‘month’ is charged?

Not trying to be a downer, but I use a $10 data-only SIM card from T-mo, unlimited up to 30 GB/mo, 600kb afterwards. This has been a perfect car wifi for me. Obviously, spotty coverage in the boonies.

No, when you pause it it doesn’t pause at that moment but end of cycle. You do have the option to change to a 10GB plan for $50/mo which works for occasional short uses (it’s about 1 day worth of use).

The 10GB plan is called
Roam - 10GB
cost per month $10
additional data for $2/GB

The plan I am on is
Roam - 50GB
cost per month $50
additional data for $1/GB

Roam - Unlimited
cost per month $165

Can pause at any time to stop upcoming months renewal and reactivate anytime (for 1 month minimum at a time)

I recently took advantage of the $299 deal for the Starlink Mini, and decided to mount it to the inside of the Cybertruck’s panoramic roof glass. It's super clean, no wire visible (except a short bit between the dish and the trim) and fits beautifully under the OEM sunshade.

After a little research, I chose a suction cup mount from ContronX, which promised a secure hold without damaging the glass. The challenge was to route the power cable cleanly to the Cybertruck’s power outlet. Here’s how I made it happen.

I chose to mount it just behind the front seats, leaving enough room to slide it out of the mount if I want to use it without the CT. The ContronX mount makes it easy to remove the Mini without unlatching the suction cups. It would have been a little bit cleaner on the wiring if I lined it up next to the rear trim, but I didn't want to shrink the headroom for a middle seat occupant.

Running the power cable was the trickiest part, as I wanted a clean, factory-like look. Starting at the Starlink Mini, I tucked the cable under the interior trim along the back edge of the roof glass. The Cybertruck’s trim is flexible enough to gently pry up with a plastic trim tool, allowing me to hide the cable without damaging anything.

From there, I tucked the cable down along the rear seat edge, using a spudger to tuck it deep and hide it completely. To keep things seamless, I ran the cable across to the the center under the rear seats and then under the floor mat. Finally, I brought the cable up to the Cybertruck’s power outlet near the center console. You can see the white brick under there. I have an option to convert it to USB-C and use one of those plugs, but I already have another accessory there, and I'm not using the 120v for anything else at the moment. The entire process took about 15 minutes.

With the sunshade installed, you can't really see it unless you're looking for it, especially at night.

The connectivity is great, I'm hitting about ~150Mbps up and ~14Mbps down with a 20ms ping while driving around. For me, something like this isn't really needed 90% of the time, since 5G on my phone is faster and the Foundation CT has lifetime premium connectivity over 4G (which works great), but it's nice to have for those times when I'm out in the boonies. Plus, it's fun being a 3.5 ton rolling hotspot ?
Fantastic, I bought mines as well during the $299 sale. I had envisioned installing it just as you described. I ordered a suction mount and should be here today to start my project. I also bought the Milwaukee Starlink mini power charger and 18v batteries for backpacking. I will test both soon! Thanks

I attached mines on the rooftop with a Gadfish Starlink Mini Mount. Drove it to a clear area and finished the set up there. The conector AC seems a little heavy I’m not sure if it will stay connected off road. I’m going to look for a type C attachment to the cable. The sun cover fits nicely under the system.

Hate to be a downer. As a neurosurgeon I don’t recommend keeping any loose or easily detachable devices on the dash or mounted on the glass. In a bad accident these become projectiles that can cause serious skull, face and brain injuries.
This presents a testable hypothesis. Place all kinds of junk loosely on the huge dash surface of the Cyberbeast while the vehicle is on an empty stretch of straight road. Punch the accelerator.

(Be sure all occupants wear fully enclosed motorcycle helmets.

I installed the latest model of the suction cup mount from ContronX on my Beast. Must say I am very impressed with the mount (small, lightweight, excellent suction cups and easy slide in/out for the Starlink mini - without removal of the mount).

My Starlink Mini has lived on my front dash for months and performed well, but this looked like it would have better connectivity and is less visible.

I ran my cables over to the passenger inside B pillar and then down (tucked behind door gasket) and over to the rear 120v plug. I also arranged the mount so the Mini slides in and out towards the rear seat.

I live rurally with lots of cell (and even Tesla connectivity) dropouts. Constantly losing my Apple Music is a big annoyance.

Real world 60 mile test drive today I still had a very few drop outs, but connectivity was much improved (over 93% vs less than 80% according to my iPhone Starlink app).

Question for anyone who already owns the Starlink Mini: if I purchase the Starlink Mini, do I have to start paying for the subscription service right away as well?
Of course, there is a new Starlink dish available now.

Concur with that opinion as a trauma surgeon. See it all too often unfortunately. The strong magnet legs on some mounts can be used to plant those thing down pretty well. I have my veritas vans mount on 65lbs x4 strong magnets . My wife and children cannot remove it without help. It is STUCK on there. You do have to fiddle with positioning until you find a spot where all 4 magnets grab because much of the dash seems to be nonferrous.
You can also slide a metal plate under the grill cloth to help hold it on there but I wouldn’t rely on that cloth alone to hold it in place.
I think eventually I’m going to lift up the grill cloth and adhere 4 additional magnets directly to the dash opposite the mount legs to secure the thing even further.

Ultimately, I agree also.
