Just received trade in offer - Is CT VIN imminent?

Hello everyone,

Ordered my FS CT May 30 as you can see in the image. Grey interior so I've been waiting for a VIN. I just received a message that my trade in offer was ready to view and that I should look over it as to not delay. For those who had a trade in did this mean anything as far as getting VIN assignment soon?

Sorry, no. No correlation between the two events. Trade-ins are a different department/company.

Dang and here I was thinking (wishful I guess) that this was a sign that the grey interior was about to go into production.

I had the same thing happen to me shortly after filling out the original FS order. I put in a potential trade-in and they wanted me to hurry up with all the steps. Problem was it meant nothing related to VIN timing. When I asked about it later they said no, don’t submit a trade-in until about the time you get a VIN because it’ll expire in 30 days or if you drive the vehicle more than 1,000 more miles. So it was a big waste of time. Didn’t get the VIN until a month later.

TIP: We ended up selling to Carvans for $4,000 more than the Tesla offer. Not sure of your situation but it worked out great for us. Yes, we no longer got the offset on sales amount which would have lowered the taxable portion of the sale; but in our location, we still ended up $2k ahead by just selling outright to Carvana. It was a super easy process overall.
