Is it just my CT or have others experienced this lately.?
When using the key card to lock/unlock your CT using the side pillar, seems lately that it is harder to do, like the reading strength has diminished. I have to try many times before it works.
Thanks for any feedback.

Doesn’t sound good. I’ll give it a search.

My card key reader on my pillar does not work. I just figured this out recently, it may have never worked. It’s clearly the side pillar as it works in the tray. Since I use my phone and watch, I’m gonna wait till my next service appointment maybe light bar install? To get this addressed. funny this comes up as I did a search and didn’t see much on it, yet one response mentioned there’s quite a bit on it…Maybe me not search so well. Is this a more widespread issue?

Only issue I’ve had

i’m kind of shocked to hear people use the card to unlock and start the truck - i thought it was really just for emergencies. I have a card in my wallet, but my wallet is usually safe in the center console of the truck. LOL. If my phone battery dies, my watch would have charge and vice versa, so I have literally never even tried to unlock my truck with the card.

Not just emergencies. Many restaurants and hotels only have valet parking (I've had to valet park 5 times in the last 3 weeks). Can't really hand them my phone to do that. Also needed one for the car wrap guy.

I just rekeyed a new metal key card.
It did not work until I held it dead flat against the pillar reader for about a full 4 second count.

Many people also work in secure areas that prohibit transmitting personal electronics of any kind. Not even personal drop boxes, but must be left in the vehicle. I (and many other Tesla owners) have to turn off Bluetooth and lock both my phone and watch in my car everyday with the keycard. The keycard lives in a lanyard around my neck, along with other numerous access badges. If my keycard suddenly stopped working, I’d have no way of locking my vehicle daily.

I've shown up on sites where they don't warn you ahead of time of this restriction and it's a real pain in the @ss because all my manuals and procedures are in electronic form. I've had to leave and drive miles to a Fedex/Kinko's to print stuff out. I haven't had to do this since I've owned the CT, but that would be a nightmare to find out the keycard doesn't work in the parking lot of a restricted site AND your phone/watch are locked IN the CT.

My cards are the same. I happened to try them last night. Both work inside the truck for drive and adding/deleting a key. Outside they do not work.

Damn, now I need to check my cards. I wonder if an OTA update disabled the external reader by mistake or something?
