No transmission, no T case needed with EV. Also no stupid driveshaft that can get bent up, connecting the front and rear axles for Dual motor EV. Even smarter would be a quad motor so no differentials needed at all. no locking diff needed bc there is NO diff. You can start to do all kinds of torque steerer tricks with four electric motors, like pivot and tank turn. Also, when you roll the car over, you won’t flood the cylinder heads or have hot transmission fluid leaking out of the shifter all over you. A lot of fires in off-road racing are due to hydraulic fluids leaking (PS, transmission) and splashing on hot exhaust. You don’t need to worry about a dry sump /oil lube either when you’re at extreme angles rock crawling. So many aftermarket, t-case , differential and gear suppliers are gonna be pissed off once electric vehicles are used in off-road applications . Even for UTVs it would be so much easier to operate without that transmission + motor w/ turbo. Prepping for the weekend would be way cheaper and easier once it’s fully electric.
I think dual motor with lockers is better than quad motor for rock crawling. If you get in a situation where only one wheel has traction, a quad motor setup has shown for some of the current offerings to struggle having enough torque with only the one smaller motor to push out of it where dual motors with lockers have breezed through.
