Quick update - the part delaminated and broke after a few weeks of rough driving. Probably can be mitigated through use of reinforced filament or perhaps making the part on a resin printer. I will just CNC machine it out of aluminum when the time allows ?

I want to mount a fire extinguisher in the bed, and decided to use a quick detach mount like this :

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DB1XX27K?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I was then looking at different bolt-style accessories for L-Track for light duty applications and didn't find anything I liked, so I sketched up this part that can be screwed into with the screws similar to those found on PC fans. The hole is currently 5mm, but I can make changes to that easily if anyone needs a different variant, including with a recessed hex pocket for a metal nut.

As for the fire extinguisher mount above, the holes unfortunately don't line up to the L-track spacing. Will need to make an adapter plate.

STL file attached.
Hi, why I cannot unzip this file or open it in autodesk fusion. Could you share a stl file or something like that? Thank you!

What filament material did you use and infill %?

I want to try this out as well.

Also what software are you using for design? I’ve used tinkercad just to make somethings for around the house. But need something better, thanks.

I used PLA with 100% infill and 0.2 layers for the last iteration.

I use Solvespace (very cool piece of software) for parts without complex curvature, and FreeCAD for everything else. The part above was made in Solvespace, but I then redrew it in FreeCAD in preparation for taking it to the CNC mill. Still need to find time to finish the CAM bits and take it to the mill.

I don't know why you can't unzip. Nobody has reported any issues with my attachments. The forum doesn't allow attaching STL files directly, they have to be ZIP'ed first.

Thanks for the info, for outdoor parts, you will have better luck with petg, or pla+.

I’ll try out the two software you mentioned - appreciate you sharing it.

But why? If the entire fire department cannot put out the fire of an EV, then what can a small consumer grade extinguisher canister do?

Same reason I carry a 12v jump starter, a gallon of gas and a tow strap.
