Since Tesla didn't do it, let's play pretend.
What features would you keep, remove or add from the new finalized model to bring the Cybertruck's price down to $49,000?

Keep:
Stainless steel body
Armored glass
Automated vault cover
Steer by wire
340 mile range
Turning radius

Remove (cost savings):
Powered tailgate
Powered frunk(gate)
Oversized wheels and custom aero covers (off the rack from Discount Tire please)
Reduce towing capacity to 8000lb
Rear touchscreen
4.1 sec 0-60 time (5 sec will do)
Glass roof (make it optional)
Half the speakers/subwoofers
Bioweapon HEPA filter (standard MY filter will do)
17.44" ground clearange (12" will do)

Add:
Compact spare tire/patch kit & compressor
Tailgate ramp(!)

My ā€˜pretend’ list would be similar, but I’d:

Keep the 35’s and ground clearance

Offer hex wheels as an upgrade option to get rid of impractical (for my use) plastic hubcaps.

Delete: steer by wire, rear wheel steering, power frunk, power tailgate, glass roof, rear screen, half the stereo stuff, hepa, and probably a dozen other things I’ll never need/use/touch.

But then I’m just a cranky old man tired of accessory creep.lol

I can remember when the heat/ac worked just fine with only a knob and two levers.lol

Just get a used Jeep truck and work on the engine and other things every other day.
Had a Wrangler. Drove it till the wheels nearly fell off. With the exception of the electronic sway bar disconnect that crapped out right away (I replaced it with a very cheap and reliable manual one with little effort), it required very little maintenance at all.

Was tempted to get a Gladiator, but the bed was so small it didn’t make much sense to me for my uses.lol

Just look to all the high dollar items to remove
Steer by wire
Air suspension
powered tonneau

chances of any of that being removed - zero

steer by wire can stay if they can make it cheap

4-wheel steer and air suspension will be the prime targets for cost reduction

Your list is what, $200 for each powered system, negligible savings on the wheels, added engineering costs for changing the ride height, $50 for that rear touchscreen, another $500 for the change in filter, and...

...increased the cost of the roof somehow?

So you've dropped a couple thousand. What do you do for the other thirty some thousand?

Remove SBW and RWS? Ain’t gonna happen.

Those two standard features are what makes the long Cybertruck feel so nimble and maneuverable on the road. These were my two favorite features on my test drive.

They did that all expect instead of powered frunk and tailgate, and I don't think that would be 30k in savings.

It’s already been out for over a year, Tesla is just to busy price gouging to let it go for a reasonable price.

Apple makes a iPhone for $200, and sells them for $1,500, so greed is the norm.
