Just picked up my AWD Cybertruck on Sunday and it has exceeded all of my expectations. I hated how long I had to wait but now I feel that it was worth the wait.

Quick question about walking differentials. When the person in the showroom was showing me the off-road settings for the truck, I saw that there is only an option to lock the rear differentials but not the front differentials.

Am I missing something or can the Cybertruck only lock the rear differentials?

On the AWD version you will have "All on" "Rear Only" or "Off" as options in the Off-Road app. The CB is "Front Only" or "Off".
So you can NOT lock ALL the lockers on the Beast? Is that something the AWD has that the Beast does not? Weird.

The Beast has motors on each of its rear wheels, so there is no rear differential. There are debates on whether it is better or not, it is. The individual motors and just act as a single locked motor, or apply more torque to a tire that needs it, say in a turn while a locking diff would cause it to slip.

I know one of the patent holders on virtual lockers. I ask which is better. I even get the shrug from him.

I am not aware of any stock vehicle that can lock only its front differential , while leaving the rear differential open. Jeep rubicon, Benz G wagon , Chevy Colorado , ford bronco , Land Rover defender, none of them can lock only their front stock diff. This suck big time because there are situations where you want to lock the front only , and have the rear diff open. when performing a pivot maneuver around a rock or something. The new bronco uses brakes applied to only one of the rear tires to achieve this “pivot”. Also, in theory, the cyber beast tri motor can do that with only one of the rear wheels turning . Maybe even have the opposite wheel move in the opposite direction (like how Rivian was going to do tank turn). But most of you boners will probably never even use that feature or will need to (although would be an absolute game changer off-road, independent wheel control)
