Finally an FSD mode made for the insane mix of Texans and Californians that is Austin traffic. Mad Max FSD mode ducked and weaved through rush hour traffic like a boss. The lane changes were downright aggressive. The hesitation was gone. Lane gaps were seized the instant they appeared.

I wish I’d gotten a better video of it, but the attention monitoring doesn’t like my phone:

My cool experience with Mad Max mode, was accel off of a stop. It put my butt into the back of the seat during acceleration!!!.

Totally I agree I love mad max mode. Very similar with how I drive just a wee bit more safe/chill lol.

Only complaint is how often it uses turn signals. I feel like it’s constantly on lol.

Of course the first day I have FSD 14 installed and want to try out 'Mad Max' mode, it decides to RAIN ALL DAY?? Great... Don't think I want to 'test' it out in the rain... But at least the other features work...

I do miss being able to adjust speed quickly with the right scroll wheel though (which now changes the 'mode' instead)... I wish that was still there OR you had a choice between the two...

Oh well, so far, so good... even on a rainy day in Southern California (well, central coast anyway)

I want to believe that, regardless of the mode you're in - FSD will still behave as safely as possible. Meaning, I'd expect Mad Max in the rain to be slower and less aggressive than on a clear day.

I guess we'll find out....

Unfortunately the compute and memory is extremely limited because the NN stack is designed for minimum viability hardware.

But... Tesla's approach is correct. They are weaning controls away from us to prepare for a smooth transition to level 5 autonomy.
