Rather than use conjecture to explain why its not working yet, I prefer to take what Tesla/Elon has said about it. It is simply a lower priority for them and they have not completed it yet. He has updated since then with time estimates, but Elon time isnt very accurate.

SO, that was may, and a few months is July 3rd. jus' sayin'

It’s 2024 the truck has lane assist. They need to turn it on for us
They could enable AP now, but only for city streets. Here’s why I believe that is the case. Basic rules based AP code for city streets is dead and has been replaced with FSD code, just with features disabled. This is not yet true for the highway stack. All teslas are still running the order pre V12 rules based AP code for highways. We know this for a couple of reason. One being that the same quirks with lane changes, lane merges, and nervousness around semi’s which aren’t centered in their lane all still exist even in the latest V12 builds. The second is that auto speed limit turns off as soon as you enter a highway. This is the most obvious sign that the car has switched from V12 code to the older V11 highway stack.

Why does this matter for Cybertruck? Simply, Tesla is not putting forth the very large effort to manually change the rules based V11 code to teach it how to drive Cybertruck. Instead, they are waiting till the neural net based V12 highway stack is ready and then let it train itself how to drive Cybertruck using the every expanding compute capacity Tesla is building.

Hell, even the code for adaptive cruise that is being used for Cybertruck is very old. It’s so old that I discovered that I could set the max cruise speed to 90mph on my return from Ohio to Florida this weekend. This is odd in and of itself as the limit for AP has been 85MPH ever since Tesla ditched radar for vision only and Cybertruck doesn’t have radar.

I believe we will know that FSD 12.5 is imminent when we see Tesla making the rounds testing Chuck’s unprotected left turn with Cybertrucks.

I’m saying lane keeping code isn’t there to “just turn on”.

This is your first Tesla and it is different than any other car you have owned before. Lane assist isn’t available to turn on at the moment and won’t be till FSD 12.5 for the reasons I shared on my first response.

Few usually = 3. So August 3rd, but Elon did say end of June previously... I'd expect around August perhaps if 12.4 gets out there in the next couple weeks to rest of fleet hopefully... then Fall hopefully August-October we see 12.5 unless something off happens. Usually Elon time is 3x longer or so ha at minimum.

As Elon says, FSD for the CT is entirely a fringe case (1%). SBW interface with FSD is non trivial! Stay alert out there!!

I think the wrinkle in this is that multiple FSD builds are being trained in parallel and not sequentially as has been the case with pre-V12 builds. 12.4, 12.5, and I believe 12.6 have all been mentioned by Elon as being trained at the same time. It is possible that 12.4.x builds never go out wide and 12.5 progresses faster and far enough to be released instead of another 12.4 build.

I’m actually hoping this is the case so that FSD can see the light of day for Cybertruck.

My network indicated a huge download to the Cybertruck a few nights ago. Maybe FSD? A previous software update is visible in the same graph, and was significantly smaller of a download. Of note, Firewalla treats downloads for a device as "uploads" to them.

Please just get us autosteer. Going on a 2000mile roadtrip end of July, autosteer would be a godsend.

There are some really bad lane changing issues I've seen on multiple of the YTers I watch (they do very extensive testing on fsd). So my guess is until it's more refined and they have more CT data, we won't be seeing FSD very soon. But I vastly miss having it (had it on my Model 3 the second you could get it, and continued on my model S) so have spent a lot of time with FSD and honestly use it on virtually every drive .-.

The issue now is it's so good that AB testing is getting difficult apparently xD its hard to tell what's "improved" without breaking something else.
Lane changing is one of the things that I pretty much totally trust FSD to do. And it has been that way for years.
YouTubers look for "issues." They create situations in which a response is "sensationalized."

I don’t believe the truck knows how to move it’s steering wheel yet for lane keeping to work. Possibly due to drive by wire and/or rear wheel steering. We may see many of these features all at once after a lot of testing.
The computer had NEVER known how to turn the steering wheel. FSD has always provided steer-by-wire and drive-by-wire.

That is true, but quad steering IS new but that isn't the real issue IMO. It is the highway stack that we are waiting for with FSD 12.5 that is the delay/dependency to be able to bring basic AP to Cybertruck.

I thought Elon said "late June" for FSD on the CT? The current automatic cruise control just isn't that good....
