Eye-spy a squircle-ish steering wheel (on the China launch page).. I wonder if that’s a nod to other tech which may be included on this variant.
I got excited when I saw the wheel as well thinking it may have steer by wire like CT.

I love how the redesign looks. If it had powershare capability I would be tempted to make it a third car as a daily driver for the wife.

Yeah, I was mostly talking about SBW
I'm also not sure how much efficiency that provides over electric boosted hydraulic, and steering loads are a tiny percentage of overall vehicle loads so even a significant increase in efficiency would likely have little impact on total efficiency/range.

Dude, get a CT and you’ll understand better. SBW/4WS is amazing. If a vehicle had all those things and better efficiency it might get me to switch. One or the other won’t cut it. Jeez.

Tell that to all the EV owners, including on this forum, who want more range. I have a long range Model 3 with "350" miles of range, which of course it almost never gets close to in the real world, and I'd like more range.
2 choices, Chevy Silverado EV or Lucid ...

I thought you were saying SBW was more efficient. My mistake.

Think it looks dumb IMO and from what I am seeing doesn't have 48v steer by wire, faster charging etc etc. purely cosmetic difference other than suspension lol?
In Oz, we say, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'
Just another way to look at things!

The more I see the images, the more I like it. I do wish the tech was updated though - hopefully the US version will have the newer batteries and longer range.

Great to see ModelY revamp coming to life. I hope this doesn't distract them too much from pushing innovation on the Cybertruck and getting the nonFS 2025 Cybertruck to Canadians!
Haha, I wouldn't worry, I think they will get Cybertrucks to anyone who will take them. ?

Not bad. I’m surprised Tesla doesn’t have a real SUV at this point. I think a Tesla Tahoe-sized vehicle that seats 7 and has a ton of cargo space and 400 miles or more of range would be a great seller.
Then everyone would be complaining it is stupid because it's too big for Europe. ?

But I don’t think I can look insane like the Cybertruck.

Can it be made of stainless steel? Maybe, depending on how they design it. But it would have to be your choice of wrap from the factory.
That's one of the dumbest things I've heard in a long while. No vehicle suits 100% of the market, it's all about filling segments of the market.

Even if you only appeal to the smartest/most informed 25% of the market, you can have a great business. I think that's what Tesla is doing with the Cybertruck.

Don't misunderstand, not everyone needs a truck to begin with, but for those who do need a 1/2 ton pickup, the Cybertruck fills the need in a very practical and rewarding manner. If you can't handle the futuristic appearance, you can always choose a lesser product. It's up to each individual buyer.

Agreed. It has to have the space, I think having a little bit of rugged capability helps.

But I don’t think I can look insane like the Cybertruck.

I believe most car buyers outside of plain utility are looking for at least a little bit of self expression, but don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb either.

If utility was the only thing buyers are looking at, the only cars that would exist would be a Civic, Sienna Minivan, F-150, and maybe a Wrangler.
Anything targeted to recreational/offroad will have to have straightforward Cybertruck styling because that's where they put all of their tough and rugged image chips. It's far too soon for them to be introducing anything else significantly different than their S3XY look. Bulkier things like larger vans and RVs might work with an offtake from the Semi.
