What is the advantage of buying a 2025? Vs. an identical new 24 with same specs? Dealer says there is no difference in the model years. Machine is the same. And software all gets updated.

Is it worth getting a 24 if you are getting a good discount like $8550?

One thing could be the refinement of manufacturing process. Maybe newer ones have slightly better quality

I realize model year affects resale.

What else am I missing?

That’s about it. 24s may or may not have more value to a collector someday if they want the first year model that came out.

2024s are cheaper to insure, have cheaper excise taxes, etc. They literally built trucks one Friday and called them 2024s, built the same trucks the following Monday and called them 2025s. If it's a later 2024 build and you get a decent deal, there is no reason to push off for a 2025, unless you plan to sell it in a year or 2.

Yeah. Unless you’re talking foundation vs non foundation, I’d say buy the cheaper one.

Only thing to consider is Tesla makes running changes we don’t see. Newer ones are definitely tighter in my opinion. My 25 has been rock solid. YMMV

It’s vin in the 42xxx range. I think that’s a later build for a ā€˜24

Dealer mentioned another factor. Another other thing contributing to discounts on’24 is they are not eligible for tax credit. That’s not relevant to me

I ordered 6/17 and it’s taking a while to get a vehicle.

I don’t think you’re missing anything. Mine is a ā€˜24 Foundation Series AWD I bought at the end of January. VIN is 36XXX and I haven’t had any issues with it. Fitment of panels etc. is much improved over the early prod CTs. I paid more than folks today but that’s behind me.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in a ā€˜24 model year and if you take advantage of today’s discount it’ll be money in your pocket for aftermarket items or otherwise.
