New starting procedure

My cyber truck settings were updated this morning. I went to get in the truck to pick up my my mail and I discovered that I needed to physically place my key card in the cell phone charger pocket or it the car would not move. What I don’t understand why doesn’t my I-watch would prove I own the car. I keep leaving my card in the pocket. I don’t like this new procedure at all and I want them to go back to the previous procedure of just having the card on my person.card in order to drive. Whoever idea that was it was stupid. If your car is getting stolen and somehow the thief doesn’t have your key on them. I guess this was their way to change their problem. Although I don’t see it as a problem. Switch it back to Tesla!

I wasn't aware that simply being in the truck with only the key card ever worked like that. It does work that way with your phone, however.

Yea your phone is the key, check the settings and see if yours got flipped off, lol pun intended. I disable my phone key and use my ring key that’s always on my finger.

Mine did that as well, it may have been after a software update, I’m not sure.
I solved by re -registering my iPhone as I did when I first got the truck. It was back to normal then. Hope that works for you as well.

Never happened in my CT, but I've had updates in my M3 make me need to reinstall the app and re-connect phone as a key before. First time it happened it was a shock, next two times it happened it was a 3 minute fix.

Oh BMW..and their ability to disappoint their customers in service. I recall a BMW update that wiped all my personnel stored car settings - and even disconnected and deleted my stored settings on the BMW customer cloud.

just set the Bluetooth again to phone and watch..

Also with each CyberTruck software update, my home network tells me ‘a new device has joined the network’…

You shouldn’t need the keycard at all, your phone and watch will do everything. you might need to reregister it, update could have lost those settings. I’ve never taken my keycards out of the envelope they came in.
