Has anyone else heard about a new wiper coming out very soon?

I took my CT to service, the wiper would go 10 times at high speeds back and forth and then stop, regardless of the setting I picked. This happened for a few weeks and then the wiper magically fixed itself days before the service appointment. During the weeks it didn't work i had to manually press the button every 30 seconds, it was a pain because it rained every day for basically 3 weeks straight.

We weren't able to replicate the issue at the service center, but it was thought that perhaps there was something blocking the camera. If there's a small piece of debris in the right spot on the front camera, it can cause the wiper to malfunction.

I was told to make an appointment in two weeks, as the improved wiper that should clean the camera area better should be available by that time. Does anyone already have the improved wiper? Does anyone else know about it? Apparently the part number will be different than the wiper already on CTs.

Interesting. Will be watching this thread for updates.

Side question: it appears normal for the CT wiper to do one wipe and stay at the bottom of the windshield in a horizontal position for a little bit then randomly wipe back up to the normal stationary position?

Yes.

Word on the street is it does that at speed to keep water off the windshield.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!

When I took delivery and was driving home on the highway, I thought it was a bug/glitch when this occurred. Then, I figured it must be deliberate when I saw it happen to DirtyTesla on one his CT videos.

Perhaps we can also get the windshield washer fluid to dispense on both swipe directions.

Currently only sprays on up-swipe and is simply not enough to keep window clean, expecially when road salt spray dries on windshield

Mine is currently in tesla service and the wiper recall is one item on the list. Hadn't had any issues, and thought it was simply the motor being swapped

It’s also a self-calibration function. Probably a process to identify true drag conditions when perpendicular to path of travel, then back to side/vertical position after calibrating to more accurately adjust itself based on the horizontal pause info.

correct, that is normal behavior.

Let us know if it's more than just the motor.

I hate how noisy the wiper is. When it's at the bottom, heading up, the blade switches directions, and you get a nice thud. It's so annoying.

Another annoyance is the overly sensitive auto wiper setting. It either wipes too often or too fast. For some peace and quiet, I find myself turning it off and manually operating it with the button.

Hopefully, some improvements are coming.

I hope they update to where it slows down while dispensing washer fluid like my Benz…. I feel the speed of the wiper is too fast and the fluid isn’t enough to soak and wipe away the dirt. Anyone else?
