For those new to truck ownership, here are some milestones to measure your "Truck Guy" cred against:
Haul something.
Haul a mattress.
Haul a lawn mower or snow blower.
Haul something that really needed a truck to haul.
Tow something.
Tow something with brakes.
Tow something bigger than the truck.
Tow livestock or horses.
Tow off-road or motorsports vehicles like motorcycles, quads, side by sides, snowmobiles, race cars, show cars, (and I guess golf carts also check this box)
Tow a boat.
Tow a boat longer than the truck.
Tow a boat more expensive than the truck.
Tow an RV to an RV park.
Tow an RV to a remote location.
[Owning any of the trailers for above is next level Truck Guy-ness.]
Unload a half dozen bags of water softener salt from the bed (240 lbs).
Shovel literally tons (multiple) of something into and out of the bed by hand.
Drive into a lumber yard with your truck.
Haul a 4x8 piece of plywood home from the lumber yard.
Haul some 16' boards without a trailer or roof rack.
Haul an entire project (deck, finished basement, retaining wall, small building, etc) full of materials home (multiple trips).
1st dent in bed or tailgate.
"Don't give a shit anymore about dents - that is why old trucks are better than new trucks"
Gun rack (or safe).
Gun rack (or safe) with actual guns.
Haul groceries.
Haul game, fish, or fowl you hunted/caught yourself.
Get stuck someplace.
Get stuck someplace cars can't go.
Get stuck someplace you never should have been.
Get stuck someplace you need a better truck to get you out.
Get yourself unstuck from any of the above without additional assistance.
Pull out a stuck vehicle.
Pull out a stuck vehicle bigger than the truck.
Pull out the truck from the section above.
Loan your truck to a buddy.
Loan your truck to a friend of a friend of some dude at work.
Help a buddy move some stuff.
Help an ex move some bedroom furniture.
Drive with the windows down.
Drive with the windows down in the winter.
Drive with the windows down in 3 digit heat.
Drive with dogs
Drive with the windows down with dogs.
Tailgate on an actual tailgate.
Throw empty beer cans in the back of the truck.
Ice fishing - drive on the lake (EVs bad for this)
1st Truck on the lake after it freezes
Last truck on the lake before ice-out.
