obstacle detection lines and traffic signals in navigation map - not until FSD?

I keep wondering why I never see any of the obstacle detection wiggly lines (or audio warnings), and the display of traffic lights and stop signs seems pretty random. I have looked all over the menus and the manual at least talks about the traffic lights being on the 'navigation' menu. Are we not going to get obstacle detection until we have FSD support, or am I missing something? I did a power reset just in case and nothing changed (so far).

Correction, I do see traffic, traffic lights, and stop signs while navigating. I do not see obstacles ever.
