Just posted by Cybertruck head engineer Wes Morrill:

Cybertruck off-road armor was on display at Johnson Valley last week. This rocky off-road park is also where the team spent time testing and iterating the prototypes over the last year. It's low profile, tough, and best of all, coming soon.

Curious to see what they're mounted to and how much weight they can support. The OEM rock rails on my Bronco can support 1.5x the weight of the vehicle, but it's probably because they mount to the frame which the CT doesn't have.

Also, the rails will provide a good option for aftermarket steps to mount onto, which is what a lot of people have made/added to their broncos instead of using full length running boards.

Wonder if they have any other similar accessories in the works

Look a little wavy on the pics. I am sure prototype. Yet why would Tesla publish such a crappy pic?

Tesla didn't, this is Wes' personal account. I agree with them not looking up to snuff just yet but I appreciate that he is allowed to post these and not be fired. We've known they were coming, teasing the hardcore's is a great marketing bump.

It’s unfair to judge from just this picture, but I was hopeful for more protection of the bottom door panels. These don’t appear to extend very far from the side of the truck.

probably wavy due to hard hits the truck was taking during testing. I appreciate them using the real world tests for official photos. Tempers expectations for those too lazy to understand that even with bash guards, hard hits will still see some sort of damage or deformation.

My gut feeling tells me these are going to be very expensive. Look at how much the cross bars cost.
