No. Tesla never releases any battery until it is fully validated by reams of data. It's too expensive to have the potential of billions of dollars in warranty claims. By the time Tesla releases a new battery chemistry/construction/design, it's already proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Tesla is always de-risking their business and that's a very good thing for new car buyers and Tesla investors alike.

GM, that's a different story! Look at how expensive the Bolt was for them.

But give them credit, it seems like the ultium platform is definitely holding them up waiting for batteries to get right.
