I am having the same issue which started about a week ago. It’s a real pain. I have taken none of the steps to fix it (delete everything in CT and phone and start over) because it takes time. I was hoping this last update would fix it but it didn’t.

My truck no longer recognizes me. I have to unlock the truck from my phone, then get in and simply close restart my Tesla app (iPhone) OR simply turn off Bluetooth on the phone and turn it back on. Then the request for a keycard goes away and I can drive away.
I have the same issue in my CT, and very rarely in my Model Y. I reported it to Tesla, and they said it is due to the app sleeping on my Android phone. I configured it not to sleep, and also for the Bluetooth dependent apps that seem to be system related apps to support Bluetooth. I didn't not help at all and I have been testing these changes for at least two months now.

One thing I did observe is that on cooler mornings the failure rate is extremely high, as in 90% for the CT, and less than 10% for the Model Y.

On warmer mornings, i.e. 75F and above or so, the Model Y never fails, and the CT only fails about less than 10% of the time in the morning.

When the outdoor temps are below 70F for example, my CT fails around 90% of the time as I said earlier. Today was one of those mornings, as was yesterday when ambient temperature was 71F where my CT and Model Y are parked.

It's extremely annoying to say the least, and clearly related to temperature so I believe the issue is a tolerance problem they have in the design or their BT transceiver in the truck, and not related to the app sleeping.

I'm going to open a new ticket and park the truck at Tesla overnight when temps are below 74F to prove it. Once I reset the BT radio on my phone, it works again for around 18 hours or so.

Thanks for the info. Please let us know what Tesla does once they respond to the ticket.

The app going to sleep answer is BS as I have tested that and it is not the issue. Additionally, I have had my Cybertruck since July and only started to experience this issue the beginning of this month. I have had my truck in extreme temperatures, both cold and hot, and no issues with losing my phone key, until 3-5 weeks ago.

If anyone else has a recommended fix, please let us know. I have an Android phone, but it looks like there are some iPhone users out there with the same issue, as well.

Success!!!!! Last night I got an update to my CT and all day the issue has not happened once when it would happen, without fail, every time. This is the software version I am currently on v12 (2025.2.9 )

It has nothing to do with temperature, iphone user in alaska, we have been at highest 40F and at lowest -33F since I owned it in December.

I have had a few times where I need to delete the phone and re connect the bluetooth connection pair, but this just happened a few times under the newest Tesla software update.

I think it has fixed itself, best way to fix for iphone is delete the Bluetooth connection in phone first, forget the device, then delete the key from the cyber screen and keep your Key card in the center console. Connect again and re-pair it should fix it.

I believe this latest update had some changes to radio connectivity. My GPS and bluetooth in particular needed to "restart" yesterday. I had to reconnect my phone as a bluetooth device. Hopefully this helps resolve everyone's problems with the phone key.
