Has anyone thought about using a photochromic window film on their CT? Looks like there are a handful of companies that manufacture the films:

Does anyone have experience with this type of tint on a car window? Sounds ideal to me since it would allow for better visibility at night while blocking the sun during the day.

Supposedly some of those interfere with the onboard cameras, so you may want to check on that with those kinds of films if you are going to be using FSD whenever it comes out on the CT.

Prestige Films (who makes Photosync IRD), used to have this technology but abandoned it. AFAIK, the color change doesn't last as long as one would expect.

I have a tint shop in Puyallup, WA and we have Sputter films, blue/red (like MB front windshield) film and photochromic/transitioning films from 75% to 25%.

Here are pros and cons:

Pros- Of course, transition. Benefit will be great if works properly!
Cons- Very expensive (cost is about 2 to 3 times compared with ceramic film), with UV protected glass transition does not work too well, very thick (harder to install), transition last for about 5 to 7 years, and not as clear view as regular thinner films.

I have installed this film on my Model Y Performance and I do like it but it seems like Tesla front windshields are UV protected because transition does not go down to 25%. It's more like 50% when it's sunny.

I am looking in to the film that become frosted with push of a button. It is available on BMW sunroofs. But same as transition film, it is very expensive.
