I went with XR Prime+ Ceramic, 30% front windshield, 15 on front windows and triangles to match the rear exterior darkness, 50% on rears for heat rejection, nothing on the roof glass because of issues I’ve heard about. If I had to do it again I may do 20 or 25 on the windshield and fronts. The 15 is a little much in XR. My installer recommended it to match the factory rear look.

Also, I originally had 70% on the rear and couldn’t stand the different look/shade of light coming through from the interior so I had them redo it. I can be pretty particular though.

Make sure to get the tint % that will match your rear windows on your front windows ! I thought it was 30% but maybe it’s 20. I thought my guy did 30 it matches perfect. I did 70% on the front windshield and I already got a ticket costs me $200 but I don’t have to peel it off.
I’ve been told and read the 3M is the best to use on the roof because something about it doesn’t absorb as much heat at others or something along those lines. IMO anything darker than 70% is a pain to see in night. It looks super cool but

Did you say you went. 30% on your front windshield? How do you even see at night ? ? I got a ticket with 70% already

That’s right. It’s really no problem. I have 20% on my Model 3 all the way around and including roof glass and I don’t even notice it. It’s Crystalline though, which I think may have better nighttime visibility characteristics due to the shade or something.

I have a “doctors note” from an optometrist if I were to get pulled over but have yet to be pulled in 5+ years of running that windshield tint. I do worry about it more when I’m in the truck because of how punk it is though.

I dig the look of dark windshield but I seem to be sucking more day after day at seeing ? 50 sucks. I’ve had my last 4 cars front windshields tinted I have 70 on my M3 also. This is the first time I ever got a ticket. Palm Springs police are di…s. Motorcycle cop radar me couldn’t get me on that so jump on his bike and came cought up and gave me the windshield ticket. I thought I would have to peel it and get it signed off so it would cost me 500 to get it redone but just today got the ticket in the mail and I can pay 200 and it goes away with no sign off
I swear he just wants to tell his buddy’s he popped someone in a cyber truck

Stock rear window tint is I think somewhere between 20 and 25. I got xpel prime XR plus 20% for the front side windows and quarters, and in bright bright light it seems just a little DARKER than the stock rears.
