So watching the battery day presentation, it looks like the CT gets the same batteries as the Semi. And these batteries use all the new battery optimizations that were mentioned in the presentation. (Possibly short of the structural battery?). But at the end of the presentation, they mentioned that it would be something like 3 years to get all these announcements into place. So does that mean the CT gets delayed? Or just that the first CT's produced get batteries that are not quite fully optimized?

Option 2. Like much of Tesla’s improvements they will be integrated as the new tech comes on.

That isn’t how I heard it during the presentation. I never heard them explicitly say these batteries would be in the CT, only that they would ramp up production as quickly as they could. They originally said that CTs would begin manufacture at the end of 2021, and lately they have been beating estimates, so it is at least possible that CTs will get delivered with other batteries, at least initially. Maybe by then they will have ramped up enough to offer the new batteries for trimotor (plaid) variants. It’s really a guessing game when they say nothing explicitly.

The three years was until the full benefits of the new price.

That's because production costs are front loaded. If you spend a million dollars on a machine, that first doodad cost a million and and x dollars. But after three years, and a millon units a year, you're still using that million-dollar machine but your units still cost x to product so it's a million plus a million x divided by three million. So they cost less, over time.

The CT comes out in a year. The CT won't be at full tilt until 2022, when the batteries are supposed to be a full tilt.

So no delay.

I dont see any delay. I think you might be mistaking what they said about the new batteries being "fully ramped" vs any being available at all. Fully ramped = they will be able to produce batteries as fast as the battery line is designed to. They will still be able to produce batteries before they reach full battery line capability.

right! they plan on producing around 10GWh at that little attached pimple of a factory in Fremont imagine what they will be spitting out of Berlin and Austin!

The other guy, not Elon clearly says at the beginning of the presentation that they are currently producing some of the batteries with everything that they are presenting. That means they already have it working they need to scale and Elon said over and over that scaling is the hardest part. The desktop machine for the dry anode works it's the high throughput machine that they think will be productive by version 6 or 7....

I remember the number being 10,000 so far, but the yield rate was low.
