TLDR: considering switching from Tesla Insurance due to dissatisfaction with its driver score system, which penalizes their preferred driving style (night driving, manual control over FSD). Looking for feedback on experiences with non-Tesla insurers (e.g., Progressive, GEICO, USAA) regarding accident claims, specifically using OEM parts and ease of setting up appointments at Tesla repair service centers versus other shops.
Tesla insurance is probably more optimum and more streamline when it comes to an accident. But I’m curious what other members in here have experienced going through non-Tesla insurance claims. Whether that be progressive GEICO USAA etc…
i’m asking because I’m thinking about switching from my current Tesla subscription for insurance with the whole driver profile and the score process cause I’m constantly driving at night and I enjoy driving the truck and it seems like if you drive it you enjoy it. It’s hard to keep your score in the 90s and I’m not a bad driver, but if I had this vehicle and I paid for it I want to drive it the way I wanna drive it yeah so I could enable FSD and probably get that. I guess 10% discount but honestly most of the time I just use active cruise control and I enjoy having my hand on the wheel enjoy driving the vehicle and steering. I just feel like just sitting there putting my hands in my lap is kind of boring to me. so let me know have you filed a claim with these other companies? If so, how did it go? I know there’s already a thread on quotes through other insurance companies, but I just want to get a thread going of actual accident claims being processed for the vehicle. Are they using OEM parts? Is it hard to set up an appointment with the Tesla repair service center going through these other carriers or do you have to go through a different kind of shop because I don’t know if the Tesla repair shop is only for Tesla insurance customers.
